I got rear ended twice in my tundra in the same year! That repair will definitely show up on carfax. I took about a 2k hit when i traded my truck In. If your going to keep it forever doesn’t really matter. I got some $ for diminished value from at fault persons insurance company. I went on Carvana like I wanted to sell the truck to them. They gave me a offer for the truck and showed how much the value was affected due to the accident. So I used that for proof of diminished value. Good luck!

Appreciate all the helpful advice from everyone here!
Just wanted to update that I am going to the insurance company's shop to get an estimate on the damage. Also, airbags did not deploy during the hit.
After, I plan to bring it to Longo Toyota Collision Repair Center and get them to repair. Had a great experience with working with them in the past.

I literally just went through this. You don’t have to sell it to get a DV claim. I didn’t anyway. I just got 5k DV on my 2018 STI with 12k in damage, and then traded it in. Lady who hit me had State Farm, so they will pay, but you have to file when the car is fixed. Hire a DV professional (I paid 200 bucks) to run the numbers and send State Farm the report with explanations of your loss and why it requires DV. They will either have their appraiser look at it or hire a 3rd party. I didn’t have the time to deal with the paperwork, or knowledge to fight SF, so that 200 bucks was well spent. In NC you have to fill out a damage disclosure if over 25% so beware of that. Carfax report will show if fixed and paid for by insurance, or even go by the police report. Many ways to get screwed here so just ask a lot of questions if you go the DV route.

Insurance rules vary by state, there is no universal answer for DV. Some states it's very easy and some it's very hard and requires appraisals and you might want an attorney to navigate.

An update on the situation:
First, would like to thank all the members for their suggestions. Extremely helpful!
Regarding diminished value, that is something that will be taken care of with the insurance company once the repair is actually completed.
The problem I am running into now is this…..So I brought my car to Longo Toyota Collision Repair Center because I’ve had a great experience working with this dealership. They do everything up to Toyota standard and spec, never cut any corners when making repairs.
Longo Toyota is quoting a much higher price to repair my car due to using a brand new quarter panel and the insurance company is only offering to use a quarter panel off a recycled car. Longo is saying this type of repair is not up to spec for and needs a brand new one.
The repair is coming out to $3.8k out of my pocket if I want to get it repaired by Longo Toyota and insurance is not willing to cover the difference.
I guess I would have to bring it to one of the insurance company auto shops and get the repair done, not up to Toyota spec.
I really don’t want to pay out of pocket, it’s a lot of money. Any advice on what you would do?
Thank you!

State Farm. They're saying State Farm is tough to deal with and is not very flexible with the repairs. Trying to cut corners pretty much.
Lady who hit me is also State Farm as well.

Lady who rear ended my STI had State Farm also. My shop (not a SF preferred shop) had zero issues using genuine Subaru parts, and even paid for my new Cobb exhaust and forged BBS wheel. Even paid for the new tire that had to be shaved to match tread depth. It’s weird I had no problems at all and you have to fight with them. I actually was treated so well by State Farm I’d consider them if I leave USAA. Maybe it’s just your claim person. I’d keep pushing on them. Good luck. I guess if the panel is perfect even though “used” I wouldn’t have that big of an issue.

FYI you have a legal right to take your car to whatever shop you want to take it to. In terms of new vs used parts, continue to argue with them and/or threaten a lawyer, usually gets things moving.

Is this a salavage? Seems my car is gonna take a hit if i I ever plan to sell.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

This is not salvage. I would estimate around 6k to fix with all OEM parts

contact an attorney that does this type accident damage.
you bring it to the repair shop YOU WANT .. then the lawyer will send a notice that the damage cost is 4,000 .. then the insurance company of the person that caused the accident will have to pay....
my neighbor tree fell on my back yard a dead tree smashed up my swing set and had to pay 1700 to clean up the tree mess ..
I bought them to court because the insurance company lied and stated they will pay for the damage.. I did not get lawyer because it was a small amount of cost..
they had 5 lawyers in the court .. I got the whole amount ...
Liberty Mutual ins.. another rip off lying ins company..

I'm sure that the OP has contacted a personal injury lawyer for the injuries and pain and suffering. That lawyer will be more than happy to fix it for him.
If not, then the OP needs to watch the ads between the Judge Judy segments and call one of those ambulance chasers.
