URGENT HELP NEEDED 2011 LTD D/S heated seat stuck on!

Hello gang,

I need help real fast.

2 days ago my drivers seat got REAL hot and A burning electrical smell started.

My seat stays on with switch off and gets VERY hot now anytime I start the truck.

Today I am trading the truck in for another one.

I need to know how to unplug the heater under the seat so they don't get a burnt ass when appraising my truck and ding me money for it.

I see their may be a recall for this but I am out of time!

Please some one tell me what to unplug under the seat to make the heat stop, pics of the plug would be great!

I tried searching but found no good answer to my need.

I tried the yellow wire that seemed to go into the bottom and back cushions but that somehow turned out to be an airbag, because the airbag dash light came on, so I put that one back and the light went off.

Please some one help thanks!

Is there a fuse in the fuse block you could pull? Owners manual should show it.

This is an option, but I have not looked yet.

I don't want the switch to not work, I need it to light up like normal.
I just don't want the seat to get hot.

Let the dealer ship I trade it into deal with the recall if there even is one....

Just super bad timing for me! Trading this baby in in 4 hours

Anyone know what I can unplug under the seat to stop it from getting hot for now?

Thanks!

So, you dont want to pull the fuse so the switch lights up, but just want the seat to not heat up so the dealer you trade it in to will think it works while its in fact broken?

If your fine with them dealing with the potential recall, pull the fuse and tell them it needs looked at.

Most likely they wont check it as long as the light turns on and youll just be dumping this problem onto someone else.

My 2 cents. Just tell them it's a dealer ship they can fix it. A couple of hundred dollars not worth dirtying your concious.

I doubt the dealership will go as far as checking the heated seat option. From my experiences with trade ins and others friends that I know, the appraiser takes about the 10 minutes to evaluate the vehicles value and rarely checks if each feature is functional. They checked for overall exterior and interior appearance, odometer mileage, and did a quick test drive around the block, then came back for an appraisal on the vehicle.

Here is what I would do, unbolt the seat and look under it to see if there is a connector that can be unplugged so itís not getting power at all. I would take my chances on the dealership appraiser to not even check if it works. YMMV

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

The truck has already been appraised online.
They have to check it in person when I physically take it in today.

If this gets noticed I will lose my trade in value, which is at break even, and very important to me.

Is this shady? yes it is. Dealerships are shady to everyone all the time.

I just spent 23 days waiting, after driving 520 miles to purchase, for a dealership to twice fix the Tundra I am buying after first going to buy it on day one and it had several issues.

Took them 23 days and 2 attempts. And they don't want to come down on the price for my troubles on top of it.

After all this waiting, my seat goes bad 2 days ago, that sound fair for me to eat the lost value on appraisal after their causing all these delays on a vehicle that was "ready for sale"?

I just want to disconnect the wire under the seat that goes to the heater, if this is possible.

If nobody knows the answer, fine, things happen, just figured I would ask. If people don't agree with what I am doing, so be it, to each their own.

I call it "Turn about is fair play"

I would NEVER do this to a citizen buyer, but this dealership has pissed me off.

They have the EXACT truck I want, and I don't want to drive ANOTHER 520 miles to start the process all over again of looking at another one.

Thanks again for your feedback everyone.

The seat gets super hot with the heater switched off or on within a few minutes.
This will be noticed when they test drive it, and they will drive it.

Yes, this is exactly what I want to do, disconnect the heater under the seat, but I can't figure out which plug it is, if it is even possible to only disconnect the heater.

I already mistakenly unplugged the airbag apparently and had to plug that back in.

If anyone knows which plug I can pull to shut off the heater element in the seat, please let me know.

Thanks!

If you disconnect the heater then the circuit will be open and the switch light won't come on - same as pulling the fuse. You are just passing a potentially serious problem on to someone else - your honesty is underwhelming. Please reconsider your actions.

OP, if this is a concern, just find a way to disconnect it and let the appraiser know that you disconnected it, then its on the dealership to fix the heated seat option before they resell it.

Man, just be up front with them, tell them you need the value quoted or you'll walk. They should play ball then. If you look desperate they will rob you blind.

Thanks everyone,

It's all over now.

In the end I did nothing and left it as is, malfunctioning.
I also kept my mouth shut, and they didn't ask.

They had to reappraise it from scratch, and didn't notice it so, that's on them.
Buyer beware just like my purchase from the dealer was.

I am now the proud new 2nd owner, of a sweet 1 owner Toyota Tundra 1794 with 60k miles.

I am a happy man.
