Aftermarket Locker + ATRAC
Been starting to really think seriously about purchasing and installing a rear EATON E-Locker (They are now available for 5th gens). Curious to hear about real world experiences of folks who are running an aftermarket rear locker and if they are able to use ATRAC effectively with the front wheels? Does it work? Or does ATRAC interfere with the rear wheels when the locker is engaged?
Ideally the aftermarket locker would give 50-50 in the rear and ATRAC wouldnt detect a variance in the wheel speeds and instead focus on the front wheels in low traction situations.

I have the factory E-Locker. Not going to say Atrac replaces it but when I turn it on on some obstacles (w the rear locker), it just walks over the obstacle no issues. Not as smooth with Atrac off so yea it does still work on the front axle.

ATRAC is very simple. The computer senses if there is a difference in wheel speed between two apposing wheels, and if there is, it brakes the wheel spinning the fastest.
With a locker engaged, both wheels spin simultaneously so therefore ATRAC won't even kick in on the rear. For the front it will still do its thing.

Don't know how the Eaton system works but with a ARB Air Locker both work. They simply don't know the other exists.

Awesome that is what I was looking for. It works very similar to the ARB but it's electrically actuated instead of air. Thanks for confirming

It is a selectable locker like the ARB but they actually work a little differently.
The elocker takes a couple feet to engage vs the ARB is instantaneous.
When swapping between forward/reverse the elocker unlocks for a couple feet before reengaging.
And your not supposed to thrash on it when the elocker is trying to engage for those couple feet or you could wear/ break it apparently.
But you don't need to buy a compressor (although one is handy to have for tires) and don't need to worry about seals blowing out (though if you regulate the input pressure it seems to lessen that problem).
