6th gen 4Runner question
Does anyone know if the 6th gen 4Runner is coming out the end of 2021? I heard it’s suppose to come out as the 2022 model. Anyone know if this is true? Thanks

Last I heard was 2023 when the Tundra. Tacoma, 4runner will all be replaced with the same platform what ever that means.
I posted this a while back. 2023 4runner

No one knows anything at all about any of the redesigns. There have been posts with nothing but speculation for years and absolutely nothing has happened as of yet.

Toyota has said that they will skip the 6TH generation and go right to the 7TH. It will be unveiled in 2031 if I'm not mistaken. You heard it here first. Remote connect will be obsolete when it becomes standard across the Toyota line. LOL

According to my "contact" at Toyota, the 6th gen will be available late 2021 as a 2022 model year. We'll now have the choice of two engines. A turbo 4cyl, and a 4 liter 32 valve V-8 hybrid. 2023 model will have a diesel 5 cylinder option. All 4Runners will go to an AWD system with low range only being offered in the "off-road" packages.

That’s sounds realistic

Whenever it comes out it will more than likely get the crummy 3.5 V6.

Yes, sounds reasonable and would actually be very market relevant, IMO. The investment to refresh with TSS/new head unit for 2020 was a stop-gap measure. Based on past history, I'd be surprised if Toyota does only two model years of sales on this investment. My Toyota contact believes it will be three model years before we see a 6th gen (2023+). If hope he's wrong.
On a related note, that hybrid you mention, or something similar, may show up in the next gen 2021 (or 22) Tundra... again, if the Toyota contacts are somehow getting more insight than they've had historically.

The neighbor's wife told me that she heard from a friend who had overheard a conversation at the beauty shop between two women who knew the FedEx guy that delivered packages to the janitor whose wife works in the Toyota cafeteria that the 6th gen 4Runner might come out sometime between now and the year 2525. If man is still alive, If woman can survive, They may find- the 6th gen 4R...
OK, so that dates me...

This is entirely untrue and a fabricated story. My misinformation told me they were skipping the 6th gen and coming out with a 40th anniversary 7th gen in 2024. It will be a solid axle design and the roof comes off like the original, but hybrid technologies and gets 40mpg on regular compost.

I've read rumors of the 6th gen redesign since I was looking to buy my 4runner. 81000 miles later, we're no closer to a 6th gen than I am to making the olympic team.

My biggest worry is that the 6th gen 4Runner will have idle start & stop and/or variable cylinder management. I really, really don't want a vehicle that has either. I also worry that it won't be body on frame.
