What we don't know is if the side curtain deploys the same way each time - regardless of if the seat airbag deploys. If the trick the system into thinking the airbag is there, will the rest of the system deploy all of the other airbags as if that seat airbag deployed - or if it didn't?

Good point about the windshield as well as the fewest people would consider that a part of the safety system and why it is vital to change a cracked windshield.

The airbag system makes literally millions of calculations prior to a deployment to answer one question "Will I reduce or avoid injuries if I deploy?"

Some vehicles take seat position and passenger weight into consideration. While the 4R doesn't do that, it does include active headrests to reduce whiplash injuries.

What else does the airbag system take into consideration and how will a swap affect the deployment of the rest of the system?

Manufacturers make the theoretical calculations when they decide on a a change - then they crash test the cars to validate their calculations.

We don't have that luxury, so we need to consider all of the consequences. While we can't consider unanticipated consequences, we can anticipate unintended consequences.
If you look at Porsche within a model range there are up to four or five seat options you can get for any particular build, so within a family of vehicles there would have to be some wiggle room, I would think.

As long as the seats are wired similarly to talk to the truck… That is.

With the fifth generation I would assume that would limit you to the GX.

Have you considered seat risers first to see if that helps with comfort?

Supposedly front seat risers change the comfort completely for taller people.

Porsche hired World renowned designer Thomas Lamb to craft the ergonomics of the 911 seat, to do this he had hundreds of sample drivers sit in a seat made of clay to come up with the perfect average. The seat variations have barely changed since, no company in history has gone to such lengths to find the most comfortable seat that I know of..so not exactly apples to apples. But I'd love to have some heated, fully adjustable BMW leather in my 4R for me nothing beats sedan plush with BMW leather quality.

Bump. Would gx or limited seats be a better option instead of the soft Tex in the orp? I have major leg and back discomfort on anything more than 25 mins. Gonna give the car to my wife if I can’t find a solution.

Granted my 2010 has almost 256,000 miles on it, and I'm shorter than some of you, the seats are significantly better than in my 08 Tundra. Those give me acute back pain in about 30 minutes no matter where I put them. And I'm in pretty damn good shape.

The electrical and safety (bags) keep me from looking for alternatives. Although I have not sat in newer Sequoia seats yet, or newer GX .

Are LC seats compatible with the 4R ?

Bump. Current advice I’ve gathered is seat jackers (don’t work for me) or sheepskin ($350-600) haven’t tried it yet.

I have a 2012 limited and 2019 ORP. I don't find the seats that much different. I liked the seats in my '19 as they fit me well at 5'9" and around 160#.

I've removed my seats and they are up for sale as I search for a replacement that will hold me better in the seat when rock crawling as the stock seats are not great from that aspect despite my 4 point harness.

I just wish there was a solution to my driver’s side bolster coming apart like the old 97 3rd gen…Searching is what brought me to this post. I need to repair or replace before it completely starts coming apart. The new Sequoia TRD Pro seats appear beefier, but obviously won’t fit. I wish those covers and more robust side bolster foam was available.

Try looking on Ebay for a good used one.

I can't make a new subject since I am a new user.
So I would like to just replace the bottom OEM softex skin on the drivers seat. They are beige, but the beige wore through, and black is showing, that looks like a dirty seat. There seemed to be a ton of seat covers on ebay, but all I need is the bottom, unless Ii could do both front seats in a breathable beige leather. I wanted to replace the bottom skin or whole seat skins , not cover over the existing softex.
Anyway and links or experience appreciated. Thanks.
