FrontRunner Quick Release Mount On Prinsu Rack

I searched and searched this topic till I grew old and weak, so I decided to post this.
When I called FrontRunner on Black Friday, I was told their quick release mounts weren't compatible with Prinsu's rack. While this is true with their factory screws, I decided to source my own bolts/washers/nuts to find a way.

Thinking of getting these and adapting them to mount to my Victory4x4 rack. How long are the brackets? Need to know how close the rails on the rack need to be so I can measure to see if I can get my rails close enough to each other.

Thanks!

I wonder if the spacings on my SSO rack are close enough to do the same. I built a hoist/winch set up to easily get the tent up and down, but the factory attachments are absolutely garbage to try and use.

FrontRunner Quick Release Mount On Prinsu Rack

I thought about those but I figured getting two extra crossbars would be easier. Plus the weight of the RTT is distributed to all the existing crossbars and the RTT is mounted as low as possible.

****EDIT**** I also sanded off about 2-3 mm from the crossbars attached to the RTT so it can just drop in without having to loosen the other cross-bars.....

Are these supposed to be mounted to the bottom of the crossbar, leaving all the weight on a few 1/4-20 bolts? I would think mounted to top would be the correct way, then the bolts only purpose is to keep them mounted in same spot.

One would assume so. If they fit between my cross bars then I figure I'll just get out the ol' drill press and make the correct holes to attach it on the top.

I believe you can do it either way, but I wanted to keep it as low profile and sleek as possible. I still haven’t had any issues with mine and the weight has never been an issue.
It’s probably just preference, although mounting it on top would definitely be the safer way to go.

Technically you can but after owning them when we had
our RTT on the Frontrunner rack I personally would not mount them below. The extra 1” of non-low-profile savings doesn’t seem worth the chance (especially since we had 200+ lbs of tent and a family of 4 sleeping in it).

Quick release mounted to top of Prinsu Rack

I added the Front Runner quick release to my Prinsu rack today. Had to buy new carriage bolts to fit the Prinsu track but it was very simple to setup. I installed a hoist in the garage to hold my Roofnest Falcon tent. I am able to easily take the tent on and off without a second person. I’ll post pics if I can get the files sizes small enough to satisfy this app.

So tired of fussing with my RTT hardware. Thought about spacers but even then, the time it takes to get everything hooked up is a massive PITA. Been thinking of getting these quick release mounts to use with my LFD crossbars. Seems like it would generally work without too much modification.

Has FrontRunner updated the design since OP's post? Looks like these would mount parallel to a cross bar instead of perpendicularly.

One of my buddies just bought a Prinsu rack with the Gen 2 Front Runner quick release mounts. The new version of the mounts need to be mounted on top due to the design. I’ll post additional pictures of how we made it possible. All you need is eight (8) “1/4-20 standard T-Nut & 1/2” screws” (plus washers). The cost $4 + $5 shipping. Stay tuned.
