Any way to lock doors while it warms up?

Since my my 2020 TRD ORP doesn’t have remote start, I pulled it out the garage this morning to let it warm up before heading to church. I looked like a complete moron trying to figure out how to lock the blasted doors before heading back inside.

I have push button start/smart key. When I exited the vehicle with the remote, it wouldn’t let me lock the doors no matter what I tried. Even tried locking the from inside, manually unlocking drivers door and then manually locking it before shutting. I’m stumped. Checked the manual too. Surely there’s a way to lock the vehicle while it’s running. What am I missing. Thanks for any help.

Could you try opening the drivers window, get out of the truck, hit the lock button on the door, then hit the auto up on the window? Do you plan on using another key to get back in?

While I was able to lock it with the valet/emergency key, I couldn’t unlock it with the remote. Had to use the emergency key to get back in. Weird.

I have a auto/ push start installed with my viper alarm system. I have a 2011 runner. Push disarm, press start from remote fab, then press the alarm lock again to lock it after it starts. Love it

I’m assuming you’re locking your door so no one will drive away with your ride. 🤔

Seems like a lot of trouble imo. Next time splurge for the heated seats.

I have OEM remote start. Most complain it shuts the car off when you unlock it, meh, not much of a bother.

She is your mom and 91 let her ride in the front seat

I ended up doing the spare key thing as well as my remote would not work with the vehicle running, Debating adding yet another remote start to this vehicle which I usually end up doing anyway after a year or so dont know why I dont just do it and get it over with.

Sheeesh just looked at your location lows in the 30s and highs in the 40-50s heated seats and warming up the vehicle

I am considering coming down your direction Mansfield Mo and points south to do some dirt bike riding because its not covered in snow like up here.

On my 2017 SR5P, I just use the spare key to manually lock the driver's door while the other key is in the ignition and the engine running. It locks all doors simultaneously.

Hit the door lock actuator, shut the door, and have another key on you.

Or full coverage with a dash of **** it.

If you have aftermarket remote start, try starting with key as usual, and then hold whatever the start button is and it should activate.. Letting you remove key and lock doors while staying running... Mike

I recently purchased the Accessorides remote start. It was $180 using some code I found on the internet but I think the original price was $199. If you have the push to start and smart key the car does shut off when you open the door but, as I understand it, if you have a regular key the car continues to run when you unlock and open the door.

Honestly, I don't know why I waited so long to purchase that cheap solution! Install was 15 minutes...
