I've been hearing a flapping noise at highway speeds and finally stuck my face under my car to take a look. There are 2 thin plastic trim pieces that help seal off the engine bay that have disintegrated, take a look at the attached pictures for reference.
I can't find these pieces anywhere on the typical parts finder websites that I've used in the past, does anyone have an idea where I can find part numbers? I'll probably need new fasteners too.
I don't think these are 100% necessary and will probably just tear out the remnants for now, but I do want to patch the holes. These are just inside the wheel wells, so I'd image a lot of water could get in there.
If nothing else, take a look on your own 4Runners and see what these things look like. I can't be the only person with exploded plastic bits down there.
I had a feeling I wasn't the only one, I just couldn't think of what to call the damn things. Thanks guys, looks like I have some rummer splash guards on the way.
You can get a cheap set of plastic trim removal tools to get those fasteners out without tearing them up. HF has them. Replacements are available at most auto parts stores.
I recently found a guy on eBay selling die cut splash guards and ordered one for the drivers side - $17.49 with free shipping. He has the entire set of four for $64.99. It was nice, thick rubber and fit perfectly. Looks OEM. Made in USA, Colorado to be exact. It included new clips too. The seller's eBay name is: pmg_resources
