Modifying the Limited Bumper
I'm sure I'll get roasted for asking but I've never backed down from my stupidity before!
After a few forum searches (you can only guess how many posts come up when you include the word "bumper" in it!) I haven't been able to find the answer I'm looking for.
Aside from a full bumper replacement option or converting my front end only to then cut it up to install a low pro/slimline bumper, has anyone attempted to modify their limited bumper to accommodate any of the aftermarket options out there?
If nothing else I imagine the responses should be entertaining!

I have a Limited but haven’t got to that stage with my truck yet… I don’t see any problem with modifying it to accommodate fitment.
As long as you don’t mind cutting it up, people do it all the time to the bumpers and fenders for various reasons.

For sure I don't mind the idea of cutting it up and figuring it out... just looking to see if anyone else had experience first. Part of me thinks it'll look kind of funny since the aftermarket stuff was never designed to fit our gigantic limited faces! Just looking for some inspiration before I go full "hold my beer".

Modifying the Limited Bumper
What after market options are there ? Metal bumper or vertical clearance cut the Sr5/TRD bumper.
I opted to add 2” of clearance by swapping my limited bumper to a TRD bumper

Exactly, no options specific to Limited Trim. I was looking to avoid converting to SR5/TRDP style if possible. Just hoping I wasn't the first to try!

I modified mine shortly after I got it. I trimmed the back bumper to eliminate the part with the black inserts in it. On the front I removed the big cover that connects the front bumper to the skid plate and trimmed off all the black trim below the vehicle color section. You will have to make a few simple brackets to support the bumper and be willing to do none reversible cutting but it was useless to me the way it came the factory. I also removed the limited side panels to make it like an SR5 or trail.

I am not sure I remember how to post pictures. It has been a long time. I will have to see if I can figure it out. I am an old school old guy.

Just wondering if you ever did this. I'm thinking about going down the same path - but my big question is what did you do about the parking sensors?

Check out Dark Runner Overland
Just seeing this thread now. I cut my Limited 2014 bumper a few years back and have loved the look as it has evolved over time.
I currently sell a DIY kit on Dark Runner Overland - Overlanding, Outfitters if you're brave enough to grab the dremel and go to town. If not, I'm working with a few dealerships to be able to get the price on a color-matched Limited bumper that I will cut to my specs for any customer that wants a simple plug-n-play option. In the meantime, checkout the website and my IG
@ Darkrunner
overland for more pics.
Thanks!
Dan
