Is the MPG reading accurate?

Long story short, had to trade in my 4th Gen. and get a 5th Gen. Runner. Frame rust got the better of my 4th. I would have kept my 4th Gen. forever if I could have. Anyway, I'm actually liking the 5th more than I thought I would. I have the very basic SR5. No third row, no moonroof. I do have 4 wheel drive though. I'm getting on my dash MPG reading 20.2 miles per gallon. Could that be right? I do a lot of highway, but seems like I'm getting better than what I'm reading on these forums relating to MPG. Just curious. Maybe because I have no mods, no third row, no moonroof the MPG's are not that bad. Could that be right? Thanks.

Sounds about right to me. I'm around 20.8 over the last 5K miles in my '19 ORP. Mostly highway, very little in town action. The MPG gauge tracks fairly closely to the hand calculations for me, though some guys report a discrepancy.

My old 2013 Trail gets 20 to 21 on a trip if I keep it under 65, less in town or mixed.

The built in indicator is probably about 0.5 high, but it's difficult to tell. If I try to calculate it myself I can't control the fill because in Oregon it's all full service. We are not allowed to do our own fill.

I'm averaging 20.5 most tanks. That's mixed driving 40/60 split city/hilly rural areas in VA. Fuelly.com is a good place to look at others to see what they are getting. I track mileage there and the most the readout was off by is 1 full mpg, but I attribute that to me overfilling to round the dollar amount up, which skews things.

Strictly highway with cruise control on, I get between 20 and 20.5. In town I seem to get a lot worse than rated and only average between 15 and 16.

2016 Trail. No armor. Falken Wildpeak in 265 size. Mon-Fri I'm in stop and go/City traffic for 2 hours each day. Weekends are running to the woods and traveling via highway. I've tracked every fill up and I'm averaging 18.27 mpg after just over 50k miles. If I'm cruising on two lane highways at 60 I've gotten it up to 25 mpg twice.

Long story short, what you're getting seems about right
