Dash lights blinked off for a second
Was on the highway Friday night driving to Vermont, when all of a sudden the lights in the dash all blinked. The speedometer went to 0 for a split second, then everything lit up again. The rest of the lights were ok (stereo, headlights, etc.).
WTF could that have been? A couple of months ago the dealer recommended I replace the serp belt. Could this be the problem??? Car has 94k miles on it, and never had a problem like this pop up.
Going to the dealer tomorrow to have them check it out. I have an OEM platinum warranty until 100k miles, so whatever this is I have about 4 months to figure out and fix!

I’ve seen the same thing as well. I’m not sure what’s causing it. but I notice if I turn the dimmer to the brightest setting until it locks, I don’t see the flicker.
It seems to only occur when the dash lights are in the dim mode.

I deleted my previous post due to not reading all of what you experienced. It could be a bad dimmer switch as above. If they are a rheostat type, when they get worn they can short or open rather than adjust incrementally. If they are using semiconductors for the dimming circuit they can also go bad and become glitchy.

Dimmer is a good possibility - you could fiddle with it, tap it, etc. to see if you can recreate the issue.

It’s not just the lights. Like I said, the speedometer went to zero while I was on the highway.

The last time I had a car where the gauges acted funny it was the computer. Back then there was only one.
