I think it is much better looking than the stock unit. If you don't think it's an upgrade, you should check out the capabilities of a higher end NEX unit. And it gives preamp outputs for my amp. And it gives 11 band EQ without resorting to a laptop, and quite a few more things. So yes, I'd be willing to spend my money swapping to a better head unit.

You are the first person I heard say that an aftermarket radio looks better than the stock radio. I know what an aftermarket radio can do, but I still don't get why you think you need to upgrade it. I only upgraded my 2012 Nav radio because I wanted CarPlay. I didn't use an aftermarket faceplate because they all look like butt. Here is what I custom did for mine. It needs some refinement along the trim on by the faceplate, but I'm satisfied. The buttons don't work on the facelate though.

You're showing an unusual amount of concern over what I want to do with my truck with my money. Again, maybe if you read up on the high level NEX units you would understand.

Mine looks just fine. This headunit sucks though but it's from my Tacoma.

See, that is fine since you are upgrading a 2019 headunit. His is a 2020, which is the good one.

It's OEM so it will be the same glitchy garbage they put in all of them.

this looks nice. does the rouind rotary volume knob work? that is one of the things i hate about some of the new stereos. they don't have round volume knobs.

I wish. Trying to get that working, along with the buttons, would require too deep of electrical wiring knowledge that I do not possess. I was able to get some orange LED's to light up behind the buttons though so it looks like stock at night, but that's about it. When I first put it in, I would try to adjust the volume with the knob but am better about not touching it now lol

Why even spend the money on the 2020? That's pretty much the only selling point over the 2019's.

Could have saved a few thousand dollars if you're going to swap out the head unit.

Look nice. I rather have non functioning buttons than that ugly look from all of the empty space of aftermarket dash kits.

This might be an effective theft deterrent method for those in areas at higher risk of break ins.
