Okay, I swear I'm almost decided. I am currently running OME lift with 885 front springs and I'm not happy with the lift I am getting with them, could be due to age, or added weight, or combo of both.
I was thinking of going with the 302 but they are basically the same spec spring. If I am happy with the ride, should I just get the 574 front struts to get more lift or would it be better to go with 314 springs. I have stock bumper and batteries but full skids, sliders roof rack. I may add some sort of front bumper in the future.

Pardon one last rookie question, all the instructions are pretty clear about a specific measurement where the spring seats are supposed to be set. Where does the adjustability come in?

Yes, you can get the 574's and set the height however you want and use those same coils

I break down how to set them up here: Dobinsons IMS Strut unboxing - How to set coil seat height - YouTube

213mm is the standard coil seat height and to add 1" of lift, you'd set them to 226mm

Okay I finally hit the go button. Even though I know they are out of stock I'll still be watching my email like an ebay auction..

Hey Mike, I've got a 2016 Limited with Dobinsons IMS 2.5"/1.5" lift on the way. 302/700 and 505/705 shock/spring combo.

Gonna be pulling an enclosed UHaul 6x12 trailer cross country loaded with stuff, probably 3-3500lbs total. Do you think there will be any sagging I should be concerned about towing that kind of weight?

I'm assuming you're just moving and not regularly being a drug mule moving a u-haul load of schmack across the country regularly? If so, then you'll be fine. U-hauls tend to tow pretty well, and anything added to the hitch will cause it to squat in the back depending on the tongue weight, and it's that which will determine how much load is put on the rear suspension.

Hah I'd imagine if I were a mule I know I could there reliably but slowly.

I did read that UHaul trailers are pretty balanced with a load so that's reassuring. May have to get a drop hitch... We'll see how it sits after the lift.

Thanks!

Hi Mike, I have a 2020 ORP with KDSS. I want to order a 3/1.5 lift. Can you tell me if I have the right struts and springs picked out below? I have sliders and a roof rack, but stock weight in the front and back. TIA!

Front:
C59-314 and IMS59-50574 (can I adjust this from 3 to 2.5 if I decide to later?)

Rear:
C59-505 and IMS59-50705

Hey man. You're better off using the 302 front coils and setting the coil seat height appropriately on the 574 struts to get the 3" of lift, then you can adjust it back down or up if necessary. If you start with the longer 314's, you won't be able to get it below 3" of lift unless you add a lot of front weight.

And yes, the rear parts are correct.

Don't forget UCA's and a diff drop kit up front. This page here goes through each option: Dobinsons IMS Suspension Kit Toyota 4Runner 2010-21 | Exit Offroad

Thanks, Mike! Do you think I'll need any spacers for KDSS lean?

Hey Mike, I had one more question. If I wanted to lift the rear 2 inches would I still be ok with the 505 and 705s or do I have to order the 2" springs (325s)?

The 505's are only 1.5" of lift, so if you want 2" you'll need the 325's. And the same shocks work with both of those coils.

Just a quick update for anyone considering the IMS shocks.

SPEND THE EXTRA DOLLARS AND BUY THEM!

I've got about 25K on them since installing last year, a combination of highway driving, off-roading, and city potholes.

These things have been GREAT! I did recently install my C4 Lo-Pro and winch bumper, so I needed to adjust the height (C302s with std. shocks). Based on the information from Mikes posts, I took the shocks apart (used the no compressor method with a buddy, super easy) and the threads were CHOCK FULL of mud - would have made for a bad day had I tried to just crank the perches.

Once everything was installed I looked stuff over/cleaned up the shocks - they look great, were showing no signs of bushing failure or leaks, and got re-installed.

I've likely set my ride height to the max for these (23" hub to fender now) and the ride is still wonderful, not noticing a lack of down-travel etc. Based on how I drive, I'll likely pull them off again at 60-70K and see if they are due for servicing, but I'm sure I'll end up going 90K before a rebuild happens!

That's really great info. Yeah, it wasn't until I saw a video of a different brand of coilover when he pulled off the coil seat and saw all the sand in there, that's when I realized just how bad it could be if you tried to crank them up before cleaning them!!

It's been years since I've done the "no compressor method" to remove some struts, but that's super effective if done right. I've had some guys though with the heavier 730LB front coils not be able to do it because the car starts to lift up when they jack up the LCA into position. They get the strut out but can't get it back in!! That's when stuff gets annoying!!
