Dobinsons just announced today that the IMS59-50705 rear shocks have been discontinued and replaced by the IMS59-50701 shocks. They have been re-valved for better all around performance and reducing the amount of parts to have to stock and keep track of. Anyone with any backorders of IMS59-50705 will be sent the new version IMS59-50701 shocks when they arrive in another week or so.

discontinued IMS59-50705 for family hauler?
I came here looking for info on the IMS59-50705 and just saw they are discontinued. A front coil on my TRD FJ kit just snapped. It was super cheap and has been great for 80K KM or so, but I welcome the excuse to finally order an IMS kit for my 2015 4Runner.
Truck is a family hauler for vacations and loads of mountain biking locally, where we have a lot of logging roads.
With the FJ TRD kit, 1/4" top plate spacers, and C59-599 rears, I reckon the old lift was about 1.75" front and 1.25" rear from stock. Great for us. Then I added a pelfrey hidden winch plate, Warn M8000s winch, and group 27 AGM battery.
I need to avoid going much higher this time. For the front we are pretty sure we go with: - IMS59-50700
- C59-302 (for ~2" with winch plate & battery ?)
Questions about the rears: - Was interested in the IMS59-50705, since kids back there, but I haven't found much info online. We are in Canada and there is still stock of 50705 up here. Should I just get those, or order the IMS59-50701 and gamble that I get the new ones?
- Is there any way to identify the re-valved IMS59-50701 vs previous ones?
- Was going to get another set of C59-599, but with C59-302 up front I am worried about sag. Can I run C59-599 with C59-302 in front, or do I need C59-505 in the rear?
Thanks!
Trev

You can keep the coils you have now, change the fronts out and see how the rake is when it's done, and then change out the rear coils if you need. There's only 1/2" difference between the 599's and 505's.
The 302's will probably still be about 2.25" with just a winch plate and winch.
Just go with the 50705's that are up there and in stock. I don't have a breakdown of the build code on the shocks to isolate old/new, but I know I've only been selling the new ones and they just sold out again on Friday.

Hello!
My friend and I installed a strut and spring for the front over the weekend.
I was going through a few sources. I thought there was a mention that you'd just bottom out on the top nut for the strut so there shouldn't be an issue with overtightening...
However, it looks like with the top bushing bulging, I either did that or used the wrong washer. Thoughts?

Could be the wrong top washer, as that end uses the bigger OD of the ones that come with it.
How does it look with the vehicle back on the ground?

This is actually the look of it with the vehicle on the ground. I'll assume I had the two washer's backward then. The slightly larger one in the top hat and this smaller one on top.

Ok.
The smaller washer will dig into the rubber if that's what's on top. You can relieve some turns on nut so it's not bulged out so bad, but definitely worth checking your work as it's not usually that bulged out

Thanks! All fixed up.
Would you know the best way to install the rear spring and coils for a 4Runner with KDSS? I think after trying it, it might be best to disconnect the rear sway and kdss mounts from the axle. Thoughts?

Great.
Yeah. Take the mounts off where it attaches to the axle. Then do one side of coil at a time. You can have someone push down (stand) on the end of the axle to get it to flex down a little more to get the coil in place. Be sure they're rotated against the notch in the coil seat properly too

Good idea to do that. Depends on the lift height you're going with. I've done it with them still connected

Did you remove the sway bar as well?
