TJM Pro air lockers

Hi everyone,

I’ve been slowly doing my research and deliberating on a rear locker for my SR5. I was leaning toward ARB and in my research came upon the TJM Pro air lockers. What is the general consensus on the TJM Pros vs ARB in terms of quality and reliability? The only thing I’m a little weary about is it doesn’t look like TJM has as much support in the US that ARB does. Would that make it more difficult to find a reputable shop to do the install? Can anyone recommend any shops in Southern CA that does good work and has experience with TJM lockers? Thanks to all in advance!

From what I understand the TJM locker only works with the stock gear ratio. So if you plan on going to 4.56 or 4.88's then the TJM won't work and you'll have to get the ARB. Food for thought.

Call up Steven Lam @ RPM Garage located in Monrovia. I think they just installed TJM today in a GX460. They do all the install work for my car and I've been pleased with them.

Eaton just released a 5th gen specific e locker I would look at that. Should be more reliable than an air locker.

@sn_85 I did read the TJM lockers will only work with the stock gear ratio. I’m still debating whether regearing would be something I want to do.

@SpeedyKevin thank you will look into RPM Garage, they are about an hour away from me.

@Xtremluck thank you I will add Eaton e-locker to my research as well.

Thank you all for the replies.

What? This is good news. The Harrop is an Eaton, so are they finally going to sell them in the USA at normal Eaton E-locker pricing instead of shipping to australia, doubling the price, and then shipping back?

The Harrops are manufactured in Australia, with substantial Eaton components I am sure.

Many Eaton e-lockers go for $1100-ish, I don't expect the 5th gen version to be much different.

Looks a lot like an Eaton to me...

My understanding is that Harrop takes an off the shelf Eaton parts and machines the end caps and ring gear mount to fit the Toyota models. So the price doubles. Most Eaton e-lockers are around $700.

Yes! Let me try to get the part #. It should be around that $600 mark I stated before.

4WP has Eatons in the $900 - $1400 range too, I expect the new releases to be closer to there than the much more popular and less expensive models.

Eaton elockers at 4WP

We'll see soon enough. I would not mind a front locker too.
