Hello & Potential Mods

Hello everyone! Just bought a new 2020 ORP and excited to join the forum! Loving it so far, just trying to find the right seating position since I am used to sitting a little higher. Coming from a 2019 wrangler unlimited rubicon which I loved. I actually special ordered the Jeep but after a year of daily driving the Jeep it was time for something a little bigger and with better on road manners. Plus I never really used the rubicon for what it was really meant to do aka it was basically a mall crawler. I want to get back into off road if although will probably be fairly light.

Anyway I am working on doing some mods and looking for input for what I should do next as funds are starting to run out now. Below is a list with my thoughts.

Currently in progress:
-trd pro wheel with 265 falken wildpeaks (yes another trd wheel fan )
-bilstein 5100s all around using 1.75 setting with cornfed 1” spacer for rear (slightly worried the tires will be too small)
-blackout badges
-RAV4 blind spot mirror upgrade
-console organizer (completed)
-proclip phone mount (highly recommend)

Potential future mods:
-remove running boards (assuming no issues with this?)
-new running bars (n fab?)
-fog light upgrade (OEM LED)
-headlight upgrade (thinking XD HID kit)
-interior LED light upgrade
-window tint
-roof rack rails/basket
-TRD pro grill
-TRD skid plate
-blackout (plastidip??) silver bumper valances
-audio upgrade (maybe a sub or tweeters first then full system?)
-front bug deflector
-rain guards
-remote start
-ceramic seal
-flag decal for rear window

If there is maybe anything I am missing or you guys recommend I am open for suggestions. I am quickly realizing how much of the mod bug I have caught.

Congrats on 2020 and welcome to the Forum. Are you sure you want to keep 265 aspect ration on new tires? You should have no trouble fitting 285/70/17's

I actually would have preferred 285 however I purchased the tires prior to realizing I wanted to do the bilsteins(not my smartest moment). I’ve also read that 285s may or may not still rub with the 1.75 setting.

In short I think I’m kind of stuck with them so I’m crossing my fingers they won’t look weird and hoping the more aggressive tire helps with that.

Curious what made you want to go with the 1.75 and a 1” rear spacer?

From everything I’ve seen, the .85 setting with no rear spacer on 265s looks more proper/proportional. There are many members who are running this set-up and it looks great! Check the .85 or AT3W threads.

The Wildpeak AT3Ws are actually a bit larger than advertised, as opposed to KO2s which tend to run a tad smaller than advertised.

I was looking to go a little bit bigger than what the .85 setting would achieve. But I did not want to go all the way up to the 2.5 setting as to do that properly (in my mind) I would want to add new coils and UCAs.

I'd go with a console vault as well. Comes in handy, even if you don't carry a firearm with you.

These 4runners are geared tall, larger tires only make that worse. But they do look so much better. The only benefit for most people from 285's is aesthetics and a whopping 10mm additional ground clearance.

If 4.11 gears were available, i probably would have gone to bigger tires, but they are not.

My 0.02.

What I have done, none of which I would not do again:

Tires
All-weather floor mats (got Weathertech, should have got Husky)
HID headlights (TRS/Phillips 4300)
Interior and back-up LEDs
LED Fogs (Morimoto)
Full length roof rack
Cargo floor (Antman mod)
Spacers (removed) and rear air bags
Aftermarket Fiamm Horns
Console vault
Constant 12v mod
Skids
Moved exhaust from rear to side
TRD style grill
Eibach suspension
JBA UCAs
Harrop locker

I see you have the mod bug just as much as I. Thanks for this though! You have some stuff on your list that I haven’t even heard about or researched yet (see 12v mod and cargo floor)
Curious question, what does moving the exhaust do? Is it so that when off road it’s more difficult to smash/creates more clearance and angles?

Yes, one less thing to bang and scrape when tucked in behind pass rear tire, and can help keep exhaust out when driving with back window down.

Depending on what kind of offroading youre looking to do, consider sliders over another type of running board. Also, I'd recommend ditching the TRD skid for one that has oil filter access.

Regarding tire size, 285 vs 265...I personally dont feel that the 265 would limit you from doing a trail the 285 can. Could it make it somewhat easier, probably but...not by that much. Thats just my opinion though. Moving up to 285/75...maybe more so

Great point, I wasn’t considering the exhaust coming in the back with the window down

If you get a console vault, I'll recommend getting the combination over the keyed version. With the combination version, you can leave it open while driving and lock it up when you park. With the keyed version, you'll have to leave the key in it in order to leave it open.
