Anyone else have the alpharex luxx in alpha black? How is the light output compared to stock with maybe some LED's in there? The only review I can find is the TRD JON one.

I contacted Alpharex and they said these LUXX lights have 1800 lumens. Seems kinda low when you compare to the 5000 lumens that Lasfit claims for their 4runner specific bulbs for the stock headlights.

I have the black pro series...the output is like night and day, I remember my first night driving the 4Runner home with stock lighting. I kept checking to see if I had actually turned the lights on. Poorest lighting I've seen and on a 2019? Unacceptable. Alpharex was worth every penny...I replaced the fogs with Baja sae and they are insane. While I have spent about $1100 on lighting, I am very happy!

anyone have a recommendation for h7 leds? I'm running anzos now with amazon LEDs and the light output in meh. the Alpharex pros look closer to stock so I'm switching over however I want LED/ HIDs.

I was supersized when I used LED's in my anzo's and the beam pattern didn't change. I was always under the impression that LED's in a halogen projector would have this issue, but clearly not the case. I ran hid's in my stock headlights do the verry same reason but didn't want to drill the dust cover again. I plan to not drill the dust covers on the alpha's either.

xd does have h7 leds, however they are listed as not street legal... so maybe I'd try them as high beams only provided i can fit the box in the light enclosure.

Yes. I thought the same thing on the 4runner head lights. Absolutely terrible. I bought a used 2017 and my 1998 Durango that the 4runner replaced had better lighting in the headlights. :-|

With the PRO lights, what bulbs did you buy? Or did they come with halogens and you are referring to them? The LUXX series come with LED's installed already. If I went with the black pro series as well I think I still want to put in some LED's just to have the nice crisp white light.

I’m in the middle of installing some pro’s on my 4 runner. Have the bumper off and can’t seem to get the plugs lined back up to install the new lights. I took the Halogens out and wanted to run LEDs in high / low - do I need to order h7 to h11 adapters or something else specific? I have 2 plugs from the halogens I took out of the stock alpharex - are you guys wiring those into your h11 plug?

Thanks for any help! I can send some pics too if that helps.

Also - what’s the yellow short cable go to? I couldn’t get it plugged into any of the OEM ones.

Looking at the directions to wire these up do most of you just wire directly to the battery? I'm putting in an auxiliary fuse box for my light bar, compressor, and rock lights. I like my wiring clean and simple in the engine bay. Anyone wires these up to an auxiliary fuse box for power? Seems odd that you need to do that for plug & play or is that just for the DRL feature?

Thank you.

I would say the pros are ideal because you can swap out the lights. I talked with alpharex and they said the novas between the low beam and high beam can put out roughly 2100+2600 lumens = 4700 lumens. These LEDs I just swapped into the Pros put out 4000+4000+2400(switch turn signal) = 10,400 lumens.

This is why I bought the pros and swapped out alpharex bulbs. By the way, many amazon lights list the lumen output as the pair but do not say it so most 5000 or 6000 lumen bulbs on amazon are actually 2500 or 3000 per side.

The other dirty little secret with most drop in LED bulb marketing is that the claimed output is actually a estimated output, not actual output. To get actual numbers, one would need some pretty sophisticated test / measurement equipment - which apparently these marketers don't have. And don't for a minute think the estimates are anywhere near real world measured numbers.

The other problem - particularly with eBay and Amazon vendors - is that even if the output numbers were real, all of that light doesn't go where it's supposed to when you slap LED bulbs into a housing designed for Halogens. A not insignificant portion of it goes right into oncoming driver's eyes (as glare) because the bulbs are designed / engineered so poorly.
