Connected Drive/Remote start missing?

So when I was looking at the 4runner I thought I could get some form of remote start via they key or connected app so I could warm up the engine before I go. I have a 2020 TRD ORP and just found out that the remote start is only available in the TRD Pro or Limited.

I downloaded the toyota, etune, toyota owners, and Toyota +Alexa app. When I connect my phone to the car it says my car does not support these apps or it's not compatible. Considering that the toyota website says these cars come with Alexa and remote connect, did they lie or is there something I need to do on my part to get access?

Thanks in advance

The only way tp get remote start is to have it installed after the fact. There's definitely some confusion about this when buying.

It’s trim dependent. Some have it off the shelf, some don’t.

Not sure if they have 2020 they, but 12Volt.Solutions | 12Volt.Solutions - Home has a plug-n-play remote start for 4runners.

Did you download the Entune 3.0 app instead of the Entune? You save to specify 3.0 when you search. I have a 2020 SR5P and Toyota+Alexa does work even though nothing else in Entune does anymore. I have the Toyota, Toyota Owners, Entune 3.0, and Toyota+Alexa installed. Or at least I did until I removed the Entune 3.0 and Toyota+Alexa since they were mostly useless.

I was also told (incorrectly) that the remote connect was available when in fact it is not on the SR5P either. From Toyota:

"Thank you for taking time to contact Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and we appreciate the opportunity to confirm the multimedia features in your new 2020 Toyota 4Runner.

We researched your vehicle identification number (VIN) (removed) and confirmed, while your vehicle is equipped with Connected Services features like Safety Connect, Dynamic Navigation and Destination Assist, your vehicle is not equipped with the Remote Connect feature. The following 2020 4Runner models are equipped with Remote Connect:

Limited
TRD Pro
Nightshade

Please note it is not possible to add the Remote Connect option to the vehicle post production as the feature is a factory installed option only.

Also, with the launch of our 2020 models, we have moved away from the Entune™ branding. None of the Entune web sites or apps are applicable to your vehicle. To properly activate your Toyota Owner’s account and Connected Services features, it must be done through the Toyota app. Please follow the steps below to activate your account:"

I just emailed Toyota asking about this myself. I had etune 3.0 and alexa and none of them work. I can connect the apps to my car but when I enter the VIN it says my car isn't compatible. I'm so P.O.ed right now because I got the car thinking I could warm it up before I get there. It's on their website too and says nothing in fine print about different trims not having the capability. They should definitely be sued for false advertising or at least compensate us by paying for a remote engine start install by toyota.

Info from the brochure shows only the Limited, Nightshade and Pro are capable of Remote Connect out of the factory.
