Thule box too long
My Thule box is too long using the OE rack/cross bars. I have the bars pushed all the way forward and the back end of the box rests on the antenna.
Does anyone know of any cheap solutions to this problem? Risers of any kind?

I don't know which Thule carrier you have, but if it's one of the big ones I'm thinking of, you'll need to install raised crossbars that sit on top of the factory roof rails.

Many options from Thule, Yakima and others... but be sure to be seated when you look at their price !

I have no idea which ones will suffice and give me the proper height i.e. taller than the OE cross bars.
I just looked at Thule and their cross bars are $400+. No idea if they are tall enough but I’m absolutely not spending that haha

Not Thule, but I repositioned the clamps on my Yakima to move the box forward to fit my 4runner and Subaru's in the past.

Everything was set as far forward as possible when I made my attempt. It mounts up, it’s just the ass end of the box rests on the antenna, any weight put in the box would subsequently press down on the roof

I don’t know which Thule box you have, but my Thule box had adjustable mounting points. You could slide them inside the box. I had Yakima rail grabbers and aero bars ($350 ish from REI)also.

Ive got the Thule Force XT, its the largest force box they offered at the time they came out. It does have the sliding adjusters were the clamps go which were additionally moved all the way forward along with the OE T4R cross bars

You need some crossbars that sit on top of the roof rails, they sit higher compared to the OEM crossbars.

yeah, I'm just trying to figure out what will work that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars. I think paying $400-500 for cross bars is absurd.
I've also been tossing around the idea of getting a new full length rack as well. My brother has a gobi stealth with cross bars on his. Would love to get a gobi rack if I could find someone selling used but that being said, does anyone have a prinsu rack or other rack that can share some pictures of cross bars on them and possibly a box mounted?

not 100% sure if they sit high enough for what you need, but look at the LFD crossbars

those look like they may sit a half inch or so higher than stock cross bars which MAY clear the antenna in the back.

If you have any other roof rack that is a platform you don't need crossbars, just mount the box direct to one of the slats on the front and back.
Seems asinine that you're willing to pay $1k for a new roof rack but not a couple hundred at most for new crossbars. Just find a used set, they're sold all the time.

I don't think its asinine at all. I would rather find a suitable $100-200 option that solves my issue for the time being than spend $400-500 for the same thing that accomplishes the same goal. As I previously stated, I think that's too much money for crossbars.
Do I ultimately wish to put a full length rack on the truck: yes. Do I want/need to do that right now? No, not specifically to solve this current issue.
