Lift Kit/Wheels/Tires advice

Hello.

I'm new here and could use some advice. I have a 2017 4R ORP with KDSS. Currently sitting on stock wheels and tires with no lift.

I'm doing a lot of city driving, highway miles and the occasional logging road and/or forest service roads in N. Georgia, TN and AL. I don't do rock crawling or trail rides. Might cross a stream or two here and there when fly fishing.

So, I'm looking to lift the 4Runner in order to fit larger tires and the wheels that I'm after, which are Pro Comp 69's in matte black with a set of Cooper Discoverers in 285/70/R17. I'm after a nato land cruiser type look.

I want to lift the truck to level out the rake, make room for the tires and gain a bit of clearance for dicey jeep roads and mud etc.

Question is, what lift kit!???

I've narrowed it down to a few, but being a new T4R owner, I'm not sure if they're overkill or just right or not enough!

Any feedback from those with more experience would be greatly appreciated.

Bilstein 0-2.5" with Rear Coils: Bilstein 0-2.5" Lift Kit With Rear Coils For 2010-2020 Toyota 4Runner

Eibach 2.75 front, 1" rear: Eibach 2.75" Front, 1" Rear Pro Truck Lift Kit for 2010-2020 Toyota 4Runner

Toytec Boss 2-3" lift kit: Toytec BOSS 2-3" Lift Kit for 2010-2020 Toyota 4Runner Aluma Coilovers

Lastly, the T4R ORP has rear coils so I'm wondering if I need new coils at all?

Again, any advice is greatly appreciated!

PS-yes, I've searched the forum ad nauseum for info, I need guidance now...;)

Thanks Mast4r. That's good advice. NATO ride feel isn't what I'm after. I'll likely have a yakima cargo box on the roof, a few bikes on the back, Dometic fridge in the cargo area and 2 kids, 1 wife in the truck! So stiffer but not too stiff is wise.

Just add the Cornfed spacer lift. That’s what
I’m doing to my2020 Pro. Hit up Jason from Burtman industries he will hook you up. I’m putting 285/70/17.

I'd obviously recommend the Eibach kit. Great price, rides really well and performs off-road, too. Made in the USA and we do a ton of testing to get the kit just right. Also, when you deal with us, you are dealing with the actual manufacturer of the product.

My first lift was bilsteins and now after switching to Toytec I outlined my feelings below.

Bilsteins on stock springs, Firmed up the ride, nose dive and general bouncy nature compared to stock. I think the price is the biggest win here. Settings on the fronts will get you a good range of lifts up front. If shock fade on long high speed roads is an issue consider looking at something with external res. Otherwise these are my top pick. Did not have any issues for the 45k I ran them.

Toytec Aluma 2.5s, I cannot recommend the toytec kit to be honest. The 2.5s I have have 700 lbs springs up front and this spring/shock combo are even stiffer than the Bils. Besides the stiffness which is a minor complaint of mine, Adjusting the ride height on these is a nightmare after they changed the design from spanner wrench to set screw collar. I think this change was required due to aluminum's softness. While you gain heat dissipation you now have to pull the shocks and compress the spring in a coilover compressor (standard spring compressors will not fit) to adjust the pre-load...

In summary remove the toytecs from your list. +1 vote for bilsteins from me.

Toytec Boss

I have the same vehicle as you. 2017 ORP w KDSS. I have the Toytes Boss 2.5 with 700 lbs coils and 285/70/17 Wildpeaks. I highly recommend the Toytec as smooth ride. In my opinion the 700 lb springs ride great even before I added the SSO slimline bumper and Smittybilt x20 winch. Would have went with the Aluma series but was not out yet when I lifted mine

I'd go with Bilstein 6112/5160 w/ an Eibach 1" rear spring over the 5100's.

Thanks for the info. Yeah Jason is awesome to deal with. Yeah I cannot justify taking off my brand new fox suspension and spending a couple of thousands of dollars to put a different suspension. Yes maybe if I off-road it. But my is my daily driver for especially the winter time. Just want to make it look neater with the bigger tires and lift. Maybe down the road when it’s time for a new suspension then I will go that way.
