Hitch mounted tire carriers
I am looking into hitch mounted carriers. I dont feel the need for a full rear bumper but like the idea of rear mounted full size spare along with fuel packs and high lift jack.
I know about the Rigd and Wilco. I dint like how far back the tire sits on the Wilco. Maybe Rigd is the same. For anyone running one, whats been your experience? Pros? Cons? What other options are there?

There's always the DIY route. I'm in it for right around $100. I don't run it daily, I just wanted to add it for a 10k+ mile road trip coming up to Canada and Alaska. Took a Curt RV spare tire carrier, cut it at the 90*, then bolted it together with to pieces of steel.

Meh, it's steel. Anything extending from the hitch is going to drag. I could cut the hitch piece down and move it in a bit more.

I have the Detours of Maine drop down tire carrier. It works, but it requires some strength to lift the tire back up into the upright position. Swing out would be easier to manipulate, but costs more.

Had Rigd for a week now...
Love it. I considered the others as well and narrowed it down to Rigd vs Detours of Maine. The Rigd unit comes assembled, powdercoated, and accessories are easily added. The DOM unit is cheaper, but comes raw steel. It sits a little closer to the truck which I like and slightly better departure angle for offroading. Overall I decided to go with the Rigd unit because after powdercoating the DOM unit the price difference is little. I also like that I can mount my accessories easier with it. Quality piece.

Detours of Maine has custom options. Some swing to the side, some lower straight back.
Detours of Maine - Truck Accessories, Tire Carrier, Toyota Jeep
I plan to DIY a side swing.
I wish I could see what TexasTJ made. The photos don't open for me.

If your still looking for an alternative to that hitch mounted swing out look at sparedkidplate.com. It's protected my spare on a number of occasions and is a fraction of the cost of Wilco.

You misspelled it, but here is the link.
Spare Skid Plate - Skid Plates, Off Road Tires, 4x4
Think about carrying two spares.

Rigd really sticks out but is probably some of the best quality I’ve seen. I’m also not paying 1100 for it though.

If you do end up ordering ... Let Daniel know you saw my review. Great guy... I've been testing his swing out for a couple of months now. And yes I paid for full price and I've been giving him input on the swing out ( as I'm one of the first one to have it). I'm still waiting on getting the vertical traction board mount and the table ...
