Not a big fan of cables out in the open either, I kept it simple and ran the wire over the top of the hvac and to the back of the glovebox, popped the blank out (where a usb might be on other trims) and plugged it into the 12v plug. Out of sight and easy to remove.

All I have to do is pop out the blank? There's already a 12v plug back there?

He popped out the blank to feed the plug out and then plug it into the 12 volt socket in the dash. The radio comes with a cigarette-lighter type plug.

Yep, mine doesn't either. And that's why I jumped on the idea that he had brought it out of the dash (although, I was kinda stabbing at that without looking at my own dash.)
Sorry for the misleading.
Wouldn't be too terrible to wire in a socket in there if you wanted. The holes are already there. I wonder if there's a loose connector behind the glovebox just waiting to be used?

Now I'm curious...

Those cheap "basturds" As mentioned, you could pop it out with a trim tool and see if it is wired for it, if it is you could either buy an OEM plug, buy a mating connector or just tap it as is, cross fingers.

i just ran the cig plug to the one of the empty ones behind the center console.

Another buddy, did a ghost install by drilling a hole into the center cubby and used the cig plug in the center cubby.

Although i like your idea more..just gotta get my lazy ass to actually go poke around in the glove box.

Photos of your setup?
I mounted my Midland MXT275 in the glove box like shown on their website. I ran the power wire to my sPOD in the engine bay and run it via my sPOD. I bought a antenna off of Amazon that mounts on my Prinsu roof rack and can be folded down between the cross bars of the roof rack when not needed. I routed the antenna wire through the passenger side firewall and up the A-pillar.

As soon as they become available again, I'll buy one and let you know what I came up with in regards of installation.

The 275 and Ghost antenna are both backordered.

Less things running to the in cabin fuse box the better (in my humble opinion).
Can you share the tech info on this? It's on my to do list.
