A/C Sanitizer Treatment

Is anyone familiar with a dealership A/C Sanitizer Treatment? What does it do, is it worth it and are there any alternatives for DIY? Thanks

They spray scented oil into your air vents to make you think they're clean.

I bought and used the Toyota A/C cleaner kit and it worked great and was absolutely worth it. My dealer charges $199 for this service. I paid less than $30 for the Toyota Kit. There are alternatives if you look around.

The larger can is a foaming disinfectant for your A/C evaporator and the small can is a spray that gets rid of any smells in the ducting.

The panels you need to remove come off very easily and the whole process took me less than an hour. 3/4 of that time is just waiting for the foam cleaner to liquefy and drain out.

The evaporator housing is not completely sealed so some cleaner may leak out. I placed a towel underneath to catch any leaks.

Thanks to jrandom for posting this guide.

I used it and it works, better than some other alternatives as you don’t get a perfume smell. I don’t pay a dealer, buy the kit and do it yourself, super easy.

This 2016 TEP w/KDSS is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.
