Suction cup mounts

Pretty much the only thing I had my rack for was tying down my tarp setup. I wanted to look super cool and be popular so I ditched the rack (later virgins).

Need something to secure the tarp accounting for the possibility of high winds. My first thought was suction cup d rings. Anyone have recommendations?

Was looking at these stanley ones. 200lb rating per.

Assuming you dont have the rails. Suction cups on roof will make me nervous. even though 200lbs sounds good but wind gusts weight shift etc. may be something like this

Which part makes you nervous? Getting hit with a suction cup or warping the roof?

Prob should have lead with this but...
My tarp has 5 attachments. Two hook around the wheels then three up top. Majority of the load would be put on the wheels. The rest are just to cinch it down.

The straps you provided are meant to pull a load tight to the roof. Not lateral loads. I would worry about them sliding and damaging my joor jabs or seals.

The factory rack is cooler than options above.

Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.

I actually laughed out loud at that one. Thank you sir.

Anyway, the only prob I see with suction cups is when your ride is all dusty. Seems like having to make some clean spots, at the end of a long day, could be a drag.

I use these on the glass door in my shower. They're legit. I wouldn't trust my life to hanging from one - but they really do hold amazingly well. I think 100lbs would be no problem.

We used to use the suction cup mount for the GoPro...Heat and suction cups don't go well together. I was having to reattach it every 20 minutes in the Summer. Worked fine in the cold temps.
