Best lift for the money?

Overview

There are many opinion on how someone should lift their 4Runner. Cheap and go spacers? Or go all out and with a full Long Travel Kit? Each Lift has its pros and cons, but what about someone looking for a nice 2-2.5" lift, to eliminate the factory rake, and be able to fit a 275 or 285/70/17 tire? Read below on why we think Bilstein is the answer!

What is a suspension lift?
A suspension lift is a modification to a vehicle to raise the ride height. It is done for the purpose of improving the off road performance of SUVs or trucks and other off-road vehicles, or for cosmetic purposes. Suspension lifts can enable steeper approach, departure, and breakover angles, higher ground clearance, and helps accommodate larger wheels and tires.
That being said, for the 4Runner, the only bolt on way to lift the vehicle is through aftermarket struts and springs, or spacers. Aftermarket struts and springs is the proven and tested best way to properly lift your vehicle, but why not save some money, and install some spacers? Spacers is by far the cheapest way to lift your vehicle, but the cons outway the pros in almost every way.Read Below.

Why Not Spacers?
Spacers, like mentioned before is the cheapest way to lift your vehicle to your desired height, but at what cost? For most, spacers are a couple hundred dollars and will produce a great look without breaking the bank, but what people dont realize, is they are damaging their factory suspension and steering components. For the daily driver, a level with a spacer lift isnt the worst thing, but if you plan on taking it offroad, we highly advise against it. What a strut spacer will do is limit your down travel, increase your ride stiffness, and put more strain on the factory strut causing it to prematurely fail. Below is a photo of the aftermath of a fellow offroader suffered while offroading with a spacer. That individual could of spent a little more money, and been completely okay, but lesson learned!

I want to add a lift, but i want to keep it budget friendly
There are many options out there from $500-$10,000 but no other brand hits the head on the nail like Bilstein. Bilstein launched the 5100 shock series into the aftermarket industry and revolutionized the adjustable strut game. Their 5100 shock series is budget friendly, easy to install and allows the customer to raise their 4runner from 0.8" up to 2.5" of lift using an adjustable collar. This allows for ease of use, but prevents the need for a spacer. By incorporating this simplistic design, bilstein was able to keep the cost low and allow people to upgrade their ride performance and lift their vehicle PROPERLY at the same time. Front suspension lift is achieved from the front strut but the back of the vehicle is lifted using an aftermarket spring. This is due to the front of the 4Runner being an IFS (Independent Front Suspension), while the rear is not. While you may think, cant i just upgrade the front struts and buy aftermarket springs? While you could, your factory rear shocks, would be overextended and not be used properly. Luckily the bilstein 5100 has a solution for the rear as well. Down below are what we recommend to go with for lifting your vehicle properly and allow you to be safe on and off the road!

ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE PM US

The best way to level your truck would be to use the link below. This kit would include the 2 Front Struts and 2 Rear Shocks. Bilstein 5100s were designed to utilize your front springs to the cost low! For a level look we recommend setting 1 on the shock to achieve that look, but dont worry, if you want to achieve that 2.5" lift later, you can do so by adjusting the strut and adding some rear springs.
