Can I see the other side of the new tensioner you got. I want to see which one I have on my kit. This is the one I have.

The one you have is the older style tensioner. I had that same tensioner and it was the cause of my issue.

Damn, I am having a slight noise at idle with the ac running and in gear. I checked for flutter but I don't see anything. It only seems to happen when it is in gear. I am going to give them a call and just get a new one. Sounds like it is a common enough issue that I am just going to change it out before it becomes a bigger issue.

Sounds like my issue. It was more pronounced when in gear and the AC on.
Yeah I would give them a call and get that replaced asap...

I am
Having the same issue with the fluttering and noise inside the cabin area especially with the AC compressor engaged.
I’ll check the tensioner assembly tomorrow to see if it’s the newer style or the older one.
Just had mine installed a week ago. 🤦🏼*♂️

We know 4Runners are painfully slow, but damn they are so slow! Once you go SC you should never go back, lol.
Good on Magnuson for providing all the OEM parts needed for the reversal (after I threatened to sue the dealer).
Bad on Magnuson and their dealer for attempting to ignore me long enough for me to go away.
I'm glad my issue prompted them to keep digging and find the manufacturing issue in the tensioners.
Thanks for everyone that helped with suggestions and provided video of properly working kits :-D

So it seems like the tensioner that I have is a newer one ? But it have a lot of play and the rattle noise is louder with AC on.

I sent them an email today still waiting on a response. I have the exact one that you do. Not loose at all just a little more noise or grumble when the A/C kicks on.

Same here! It was perfect for 300 miles or so and same story, nothing crazy just a little noise and vibration when A/C clutch kicks on, SC also doesn’t sound the same. I kind of had a filing about it, right before living after installed SC from the Shop I tried to squeeze belt right under SC pulley, and it was solid as a rock, now I can literally touch my fingers doing that. Well looks like I’m next one to email them. Thank you guys for info!

I responded to another thread but I had the same issue. Received a new tensioner and the rattle is gone. The new one is completely different. No black cover anymore. Here is the new one and the box it came in. Several people have noticed that the pulley and other parts look completely different than the dayco part number so I'm not sure if magnuson changes some of the components before shipping it.
