In the video there is an Eastern European dude who compares the two. I dunno if I agree with his math but you can clearly see the differences in the filters.
I will definitely be going with the TRD filter because it has shiny parts and technically it is much higher on the pimp scale.
I'm currently using the Amsoil filter; solid construction, synthetic media and good for 15,000 miles. Becoming a preferred customer over there got me the filters at about $19 a piece (six pack price)
I used to use Amsoil's oil exclusively, but they've gotten too pricey for my appetite. Probably feel the same once these filters are all used....
FWIW - it is probably worth using real OEM oil filters. (people are basically doing the same think with their "performance" aftermarket air filters that also add no power).

For 25 bucks shipped I got a pack of like 5 oem filters.... You know the ones proven to get you to 250K+ without issues.
i don’t think there’s any question that the TRD’s finer, synthetic media actually does filter better, but can understand that many people don’t care about that, or believe it to be necessary.
what i do find odd is that those same people often seem to happily shell out beaucoup bucks for a Gobi rack, N-Fabs, Pro wheels, LED headlights, “Raptor” lights, a “Salt Life” sticker, and so on. but pay $10 more for a premium oil filter you’ll probably replace once a year? oh, hell no!
