Toyota PTR43-00079 TRD OIL FILTER
  • 100% synthetic filtering media for extended life
  • Heavy-duty body and base plate for extreme strength
  • Base plate openings are ported and polished for reduced restriction of oil flow
  • Heavy-duty pressure relief valve helps improve oil flow during cold starts
  • High-temperature rated silicone anti-drain back valve helps retain oil in the filter to help avoid dry start

ELEMENT KIT, OIL FILTER $3.86

It's "ported and polished". Hell yeah! What degree of awesomeness is that?!
For that extra $13.22 you must be getting what 10 or 15 more horse power?

I’ve always wondered what the differences were. Did you take any pictures before the install ?

Shiny Parts for Pimp'n

In the video there is an Eastern European dude who compares the two. I dunno if I agree with his math but you can clearly see the differences in the filters.

I will definitely be going with the TRD filter because it has shiny parts and technically it is much higher on the pimp scale.

Ha! good one--now there is bling for the unseen areas of the 4R. I wonder if it shines better than the OEM when it is full of used oil.

"Ported and Polished"

I'm currently using the Amsoil filter; solid construction, synthetic media and good for 15,000 miles. Becoming a preferred customer over there got me the filters at about $19 a piece (six pack price)

I used to use Amsoil's oil exclusively, but they've gotten too pricey for my appetite. Probably feel the same once these filters are all used....

FWIW - it is probably worth using real OEM oil filters. (people are basically doing the same think with their "performance" aftermarket air filters that also add no power).

Funny how marketing extracts those extra dollars from consumers.

I mean the TRD Air Intake is just the stock air box with some red lettering and one less resonator

i don’t think there’s any question that the TRD’s finer, synthetic media actually does filter better, but can understand that many people don’t care about that, or believe it to be necessary.

what i do find odd is that those same people often seem to happily shell out beaucoup bucks for a Gobi rack, N-Fabs, Pro wheels, LED headlights, “Raptor” lights, a “Salt Life” sticker, and so on. but pay $10 more for a premium oil filter you’ll probably replace once a year? oh, hell no!
