This is a very important point. While you can physically just use a higher rated fuse, you may well be overloading the wiring - potentially causing a fire.

I’m trying to use the high beams as my trigger for my light bar on my 2022 SR5 Premium. The new LED setup has moved the high beam to the low beam LED light (the bulb seems to be doing double duty). On my old 2017, the high beam bulb was separate and I tied into the +12V wire as my light bar trigger. For the life of me, I cannot find the wires for the high beams on the 2022. I guess this would be the same setup on some 2021 models. Does anyone know where to find the high beam +12V wire?

I don't think it will be the same as my 21 TRDORP high beam wire, as my Low LED and High/DRL (Halogen) are separate bulbs.

IIRC, your 22 has a LED Low/High Beam, maybe a shutter that moves.....???
Your low & high are one bulb and plays double duty........

Do you have a fuse that states high beam located in the cab?

Yes. The 22 has a halogen bulb that serves as the DRL only. Turning on/off high beams changes the amount of light from the larger, round LED bulb. Sadly, there is not a fuse for high beams in the cab. What’s odd to me is that I can’t find any wires that go to the low/high beam headlights. I’m guessing Toyota has hidden them somewhere in the wheelwell, under the fender liner. But before I started yanking all that apart, I thought I’d ask here in case someone else had already solved this issue. Maybe I’m the first person with a 22 to install a light bar.

Might look at this thread to see if you can get any info….

This is exactly what I have been looking for. If you find this answer, PLEASE post it here!

@Saker - Thanks for the link. I read through the 500+ posts. @Jrunr - I see you're looking for the same wire I am.

So... buried in the thread Saker referenced... Post 55 is a photo of the plug that is the LED headlights (both low and high beam). Post 106 has photos of the plug with wires in it. This photo is from 2021 SR5 model that only has LED low beams. There are 2 wires in that plug (red and black). Both wires are on the right side of the 4-pin plug. In the 2022 model with LED low and high beams, I think there are 4 wires (trying to do this from memory, so I'm not 100% sure at the moment). Perhaps the left pins in that 4-pin plug are for the high beams??? The seals around those wires look pretty tight so I'm not exactly sure how I can get a multimeter on them.

The other thing I was thinking is that the companies selling the Morimoto XB Gen 2 headlights have a special wire harness that comes with them for use in the models with the Bi-LED headlamps. They should have the information you seek. I would call them, but not at the international rates I would be charged from over here in the sandbox…. Maybe that would be a way to find out??

Anyway, I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing how you upgrade your lights. I am a lighting fiend so this is a lot of fun for me!!! Lol

For me, step one is finding out if we can even tap into that high beam activation.

Step two is deciding which auxiliary light to use as an additional high beam. (Current options are:
1. Morimoto 4Banger - combo beam light pod
2. DD SSC2 Pro
3. Baja S2 Pro
4. DD SS6 or SS12 light bars
5. Baja S8 light bars

Wiring on 2022: Success! White wire is ground. Blue wire is +12V when low beams are on. Black wire and blue wire are +12V when high beams are on. So, I used the black wire to as the trigger for my light bar.

Definitely looking forward to a write up of how you did this and some pics of the results!! 👍👍

I would think that would not pass inspection. The light bar on his own switch seems like the Way to go.
Drivers coming at you on the highway won’t appreciate that light bar blinding them until you decide to flip your lhighbeams off.

…and this is where the Auto High Beams in my 2021 is a blessing! It still works even with the Baja Designs S8 in the upper grille (triggered by the high beams)
