Given how expensive the TRD Pro front grill is (just plastic) and how expensive the navigation/head unit is, I fear that these LED headlights won't be a simple drop-in and they won't be inexpensive.

Nope. Most people likely won't be able to afford off the shelf OEM Toyota and will likely stick to their $25 LED drop in kits.

I’m also curious about these “updated” Fox shocks. I wonder if this has something to do with the clunking some owners were experiencing.
Also, apparently the springs add an additional inch of lift in the front? Or is that all around?
Really am interested in seeing the details about those and the headlights. They can keep the wheels; I’m happy with mine.

They are selling based on confusing the consumer and adding a flashy color matched cooler and jenky yakima rack.

Anyone remember when Jack Hollis was interviewed about the 2019 TRD Pro at the Chicago Auto Show? Someone asked about LED headlights, and he said something to the effect of, "No, we couldn't completely redesign the vehicle." Basically implying that using LED headlights would require a redesign. lol.
2021: Here are your 4Runner LED headlights.
My .02: looking at the headlight housing, it seems to be the same, so the logical change is just bulbs and wiring. I wonder if they changed the projector? I would assume not when the rest of the housing looks the same. Wiring can of course be a PITA, so we shall see. I have had the 4300k Philips HIDs for years on my 2016 and 2019 - AIMED DOWN - so I won't be quick to upgrade unless they're under ~$300 and well reviewed. I wonder what the color temp will be... Toyota's promo pic looks more yellow, but if they come out at like 5k to match my fogs, that could sway me.

Was just about to decide on an order for a 2021 Highlander Platinum and saw the 2021 4Runner announcement.
Thinking about it, it’s a bit stupid (of me) that the addition of something as small as LED lighting would throw the 2021 4Runner back into consideration, but maybe it was a sign...

It would be so nice for Toyota to admit fault on this. I'm just waiting until next fall/winter for the noises to return.

They could change the projectors relatively easily with another side mount projector that fits the housing. Lexus had a few models and the Venza utilized side mount HIDs. After talking with a few headlight retrofitting shops, simply upgrading and tuning the lenses for an LED bulb should be all that is required if Toyota would choose to keep the same projector housing. Wiring shouldn't be too bad considering it doesn't appear to be a full housing redesign.

Well what did they do on the Tacoma? That’s sort of the dress rehearsal for this. Did they completely re-design the internal housing of the LED headlights or did they just throw some bulbs in and call it a day?

The Tacoma housing was redesigned for 2020:

I read 35, but 135 if you add the TRD "not snorkel." Is that consistent with your findings?
