How to remove the trays on top of the wheel well?

I'm stumped on what is holding the trays on both sides of my 19 TRD ORP wheel well plastic. I'm referring to the shallow trays right on top. 1-1/2" deep about 12" long.

I can unsnap the side toward the windows, but cannot get the other side loose.

I'm wanting to see how much room is under there to mount a couple of Blue Sea cig outlets for the ARB and dog box fans etc.

Anyone remove them without damage?

Yeah - I searched and found nothing but I may have missed it.

There are 2 screws that hold the other side in, If you pull up the outer side, you can reach in with a small screwdriver and get them out.

There should be a how to on this, maybe from Engineer ?

The post above is correct about the two screws on the inside wall of the tray. Go into my Album Page,
I wrote this whole mod up including the added plugs and fuse block in the fender well.
A flexible screwdriver attachment makes this job a lot easier and will save your hands.
I also show how to remove the existing OEM outlets.

This is an antman mod “brute force” method. Just pull up and toward the center of the car, they will break. You can cut off the screw mounts and everything still clips back into place with no rattle. I just did it yesterday.

I'll try to get a screwdriver in tomorrow on the passenger side- there is no cubby hole on the driver side to provide room for a screwdriver on mine though.

I barely got a set of jumper cables in there and closed it up with no room for anything else so I’m not sure how much it’s worth it

Brute forced mine.

I put an emergency jump starter on the passenger side.

On the drivers side I put a set of expensive Wiley x safety glasses and a set of binoculars.

Stuff i dont want people accidentally leaving with.

Just did mine today! Yank from the outside edge up-and-in and they pop right out. These clips break off pretty damn easy and the tray piece clips right back in no prob.

Just enough room for jumper cables, some 550 cord, and a tire patch kit How to remove the trays on top of the wheel well?

I have to wonder why Toyota felt the need to secure those trays with inaccessible screws or really, any screws. It's not like they are huge and could hold a lot of weight.

I didn't remove my drivers side tray. your right about not having enough elbow room on the Drivers side.
The flexible adapter on the screw driver worked well just be patient when feeling for the screws as it only takes a few turns to remove them.
The tray will only bend enough to get your hand in there to find the screw head. You might want to use a small mirror and a small flash light also.

Snapped the two trays out today- one side the little brackets on the tray broke off, the other side the holes in the brackets tore.
So they are off and I can now proceed with installing the Blue Sea cig outlets.

BTW I looked those trays up on a Toyota parts site- they are a ridiculous $81 EA. If I'd have known they were that expensive I might not have even tried!
Thanks guys

When you say the outside edge, do you mean the lip of the tray that is facing away from you towards the side of the vehicle?

I'm thinking of using a trim tool to raise it up from the outer edge, try to get my fingers in and yank it up and towards me? Would that work?

Thanks. Had a few minutes and ripped it out. Popped it right where the screw points were. Haven't popped it back to see if mounts flush and check for rattle etc but so far it does what I needed it for (running wires to the jack storage area). I guess a little double tape or some sort of adhesive might help in case it rattles..
