How much did the dealer give you on your 2018?

How much did they sell you the 2020 TRD Pro for?

Decided to buy a pro

I see nothing wrong with your trade in. You get CarPlay and TSS. For many, it’s a good reason to trade in.

It’s just the TRD Pro purist who don’t care for the 2020 upgrades and are puzzled by the change Decided to buy a pro unless you get a specialized pro color.

I see no issues with OP’s decision to buy a 2020 Pro. His ORP cost him $2,500 to drive 2 years and 30k miles.

As for modifications to his Pro. It is his vehicle. Let him do what he likes.

✌🏼

Congrats!

Sweet rig. Love my 2020 Pro. Reason I sold my 2016 was because it was in an accident. The 2020 Pro's with Carplay / TSS and the eventual resale value is worth it 100% IMO. The ORP will depreciate quicker than the Pro. Paying $2500 for 30k miles is amazing.

BTW -- the toxic responses that this thread is getting is exactly why many choose not to start threads on this forum, including myself.

That black skid looks bada$$ as well!

If he removed the roof rack, suspension, wheels and tires, skid plate and badges, he’s at the same starting point as if he had just bought a white ORP. I suppose he is left with a few upgrades like the front grill, LED fogs, JBL and auto climate. But, that’s hardly worth the $10K difference. With the bargaining that can be done on an ORP, it might even be more than $10K. Maybe, if he had gotten the army green, you could justify it for the specialty color. I call fake post.

It sure seems like a lot of people are knocking him down for his purchase and what he chose to do. Who cares what he did with it, he bought another 4Runner and is having fun with it. More and more now when you post something you bought or moded on your 4Runner you have to justify it instead of just being able to show it off.

The responses aren’t “toxic” at all. You need to be less sensitive. Go to your “safe space.” People are merely asking questions. Not sure why everyone is so “offended” these days when someone questions something they do.

Sure.....TSS, Apple CarPlay, bigger 8” display, new instrument cluster, push button start.....all good reasons to upgrade to a 2020 and when you can basically get almost all of your money back on your trade vehicle, why not? I think you’re missing the point, however. Myself, and other members, were wondering why the OP would purchase a 2020 PRO and then remove all of the parts that actually make it a PRO over an ORP. Once he removed all the port installed parts like the roof rack, wheels, tires, skid plate, suspension and badges, it was no longer a TRD PRO. He could have purchased a 2020 white ORP, gotten the same electronic upgrades and then removed the roof rack, tires, wheels, skid plate and suspension. He would have then been at the EXACT SAME starting point for his build, minus the TRD grill and some LED fogs which could be added for short money. And he probably would have been around $10,000 ahead of the game, assuming most are paying MSRP for a 2020 PRO and getting significant discounts on the other trims.

It’s a legitimate question and a fair question to ask.

Now now you're all looking at this wrong. The more important question is how is he going to change his username?!
