According to Toyo's website, the LT265/70R17 E tires weigh 48 lbs.

The P265/70R17 SL tire in BSW is 39 lbs.

So far, so good

Just put a set on today. 265/70/17s SLs.

Too soon for objective data points. However, subjectively the AT IIIs look more aggressive than the previous version, and maybe a touch quieter. We'll be taking a trip out to Colorado towards the end of the month and will likely get them muddy and snowy.

Considering these myself in stock size P metric. They look pretty good on yours. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts as you use them more. Please follow back up on this thread!

Got mine the other day in P285/70R17. I didn't realize how smooth going back to P would be over the LT C I had been running. My off-roading is limited, but the truck will still be the primary driver in the Rust Belt Winters.
There's some rubbing even with the lift (which is only about 2"). I trimmed about 1/2" off of the bumper on both sides and had to push the passenger side front wheel well liner forward too. The driver's side is rubbing a little on the mud flap. I don't want to cut the mud flap until I'm sure it's just the mud flap and not working on the body mount.

On Discount Tires website:

E-Load 285/70-R17 = 56lbs
C-Load 285/70-R17 = 56lbs

Doesn't make sense to me.

I have the P285/70R17 on my pro. They are unbelievably better than the Nittos that came stock so far for me although I only have about 500 miles on them. I could not be happier with my decision.

According to my tire guy these are some of the best road force numbers he has seen for a truck tire. He also talked a lot about checking the DOT dates to make sure you get a recent set. A lot of the tires from Discount sit in a warehouse for a long time and they have issues with balancing (that’s what he said at least).

AT3s have only been released since March 2nd, so none have been warehoused too long as of yet...

Good idea.

It also looked like they made an attempt to make the outside of the tire more rugged and similar to a K02 but it isn't as thick, perhaps to save weight?

Take the flaps off as a test, if that clears the rub(my 285s did) I took a heat gun and molded the flaps back, they had about 3/4" play to melt them back.

Glad you like Toyo AT 3!
Can you please elaborate on what specifically “unbelievably better” on those vs. Nitto? (Just trying to get as much info as I can ).
And I am assuming you went from stock size Nitto, correct?

Another note, I think I read that someone was saying that these Toyo's had only a 2 ply sidewall. Just a note about that, my KO2 C-load only has a 2-ply sideway. E-load KO2's have 3 plies, the plies are just not as thick as the ones on the 2-ply but overall thicker since there are 3. BFG explained to me though that it is reinforced with essentially the same material as Kevlar, they just can't call it Kevlar like Goodyear does. Not sure if these Toyo's have as strong as a sidewall as the KO2's but Toyo is a good brand so I would guess they are strong enough for rough off-roading. I still find it interesting that the C-load and E-load weigh the same.

Got an answer back from Toyo. Not sure why they can't just say whether an E load has a stronger sidewall or not. I did ask about its sidewall in comparison to the K02 or the Goodyear Duratrac.

Quote:
Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires USA. The Open Country ATIII in size LT285/70R17 in C/6 weighs 54.56 lbs. and the E/10 weighs 54.74. Both offer the standard 2 ply sidewall with the E/10 having a stronger tread casing.
We do not have information pertaining to the K02's sidewall information.
Both the C/6 and E/10 offer a 50,000 mile mileage warranty. We do not have testing related to the wear on both as that will be dependent on the application and types of use.

Yes I went from the stock Nittos on the pro to the AT3s. I have less road noise, what feels like better acceleration, and am showing about 0.5 mpg better on the dash. This of course is counterintuitive to having a lift and larger tires put on. I almost wonder if Toyota had aligned it correctly when I bought her.

The biggest difference was during the rain the other day... way stickier than the Terra grapplers. I wonder if all of these things are the reason they updated the tires on the Pro for 2021?
