Easier to sell take-offs with or without tires?
Hello all. Quick bid for some advice.
Getting new wheels/tires put on this Thursday. Would like to sell my OG TRD Off Road rims after the fact that have 20k miles on them.
Question: Think it's easier to sell the rims with the tires on or off? With 20k miles on them I don't think the Duelers have much value to anyone and I don't want to end up with a set of tires laying around. I can have installer dispose of them.
Any thoughts?
Cheers.

My experience with tires.
I ran Jeeps for years before buying a 4runner and had way to many sets of wheels.
The hardest set I ever had to sell was without tires.
I remember the guy saying that he would rather drive to a tire shop on four trashed tires than lug wheels back and forth.

I agree
For people wanting instant satisfaction (me included) I'd rather get the wheels on the rig to see them, even if they have crappy tires. Can always change the tires later, especially if theyre a stock size

My local Discount Tire bought my stock tires for 250.00 . They just did a 250.00 credit toward the set I was buying at the moment. ( General Grabber ATX, highly recommended btw)

Damn that's great for 4 used tires. I'm putting a set of Grabbers on this week!

Right on. Did you go LT or standard load? I went Standard and really like the ride.

It seems like I can't give my wheels away. Should have swapped everything at once. Granted they are SR5....guess I need to try harder or just keep dropping the price.

Keep the wheels and tires fully mounted, with the TPMS.
Saves the buyer $labor on mounting and balancing.
And instant gratification!

When I bought a set of 2018 trail wheels last summer on craigslist they were advertised with the tires. I had zero use for the stock tires as I am putting KO2 tires on the wheels. I offered him $400 for the set with the tpms and that he take the tires off the rims. He accepted my offer and I did not have to deal with dismounting and getting rid of the oem tires. Also if someone has to get the wheels to their house it is easier to transport 4 wheels verses 4 wheels with tires. Your best hope is to find someone that needs the tires with the wheels.

If the tires are healthy, leave them on. Easier to sell. its hard to sell OEM wheel as-is.

I'm glad you posted this, I'm ordering a new 4Runner soon, and was thinking about different wheels and tires.

I'd leave the tires on. Depending on what I'm buying them for - I'd prefer to have them on there. Especially if I were going to use them for a trailer or other project vehicle. It only costs a few bucks to dispose of them if I was going to put something else on.

Off Road rims will usually sell for about $100/each without the tpms. If they don't sell quickly as a set you can always sell them individually. Plenty of guys out there looking to get 1 extra rim to do a 5 wheel rotation.
Oem tires, probably $250 for the set.

well...it will be easier to sell a complete set w/ tires but that won't exactly translate to more money. The dunflops are horse crap
Also try to sell it at the FJ, lexus, 4th gen crowds..they are more likely to bite.
