Rear Hatch
Anybody getting unusual noise when closing the rear hatch? Kinda like the rear wiper banging into the spoiler or something?

I get a 'funny' noise from my rear hatch area when I close my rear side door. Need a 2nd person to close and me to listen in the next few days to narrow it down.

I get a sound times from the top. Sounds like metal on metal, but I could be wrong. I hope that it's the wiper and not two panels bumping.

The most common cause of hatch noises I've come across is license plate movement. I always mount mine with a couple of wads of poster putty behind the lower screw holes to keep the plate from rattling or any movement.

I am. It's like a popping/cracking noise towards the top of the hatch. Don't know where it's coming from.

I checked this out yesterday. If you reach your hand up under the spoiler and touch the wiper, see if the wiper moves. If it does, tap it a time or two and listen for a noise. I think this is what you are describing. What's interesting is the only time I hear the wiper noise is when I close the front doors - I never hear it when going over bumps, etc. while driving.

Just an FYI, my wiper does NOT move at all. Locked in place pretty tight. No noise when I close the door. Could be wiper arm needs to be tightened down a bit more for those who are experiencing movement/noise. If it can be done!

Today I noticed a noise coming from the hatch when I closed one of the side doors. I could make it happen every time I closed any one of the doors or the hatch. I think there's a part of the locking mechanism that actuates audibly inside the hatch under SOME circumstances, tho I can't tell exactly what the circumstances are. Later on, I couldn't make it do it again. Not suggesting that this is what you heard, but it's one possibility.

It sounds lound when in the garage, I want to track it down. Same thought about the lock but I know the rear hatch is unlocked, it is very strange.

I don't think anything is loose or broken. It sounds like a pressure relief mechanism. When you close any one door while all the others are shut the air being forced in makes the noise.

Yeah, that's what I thought it was at first, but I could hear another noise after the "flap" noise. Maybe the locking system goes thru a check at certain times? I also noticed that it makes the same sound with a very gentle closing of the door which overrules the air motion idea.

went to the dealer and asked them about the rear hatch noise. He told me that it was the rear hatch hitting the right hing of the door. Cannot hear anymore noise now.
