I like your red TRD emblem. What did you do there?

4Runners and Tacomas just seem to be really sensitive to wheel balance. On my 2017, I had to get my BFG KO2s balanced 4 times before the truck was even driveable and I would still get a slight steering wheel shimmy from 50-60 mph. When I got my current Coopers, I spoke with the tech and made sure that the tires with the worst RoadForce numbers went on the back and that made a huge difference - I still get a slight shimmy when the truck has been sitting all night and its really cold the next morning, but for the most part it's gone.

At new I had no shakes or wobble, after the 5k service I noticed a little bit between 60-65 mph but bearable. After my 10k service it went away, this tells me that I have a tire issue. Will be swapping them out pretty soon for some Falkens when these wear out.

I had a little wheel shake or vibration on certain road surfaces at first on my ‘19 ORP. It pretty much went away after around 3,000 miles. It’s always in the back of my mind that it could come back but so far so good. Like others mentioned it was in the 55 to 60 mph range.

If its in the 55-60mph range then I don't really care since I'm blowing through that range to 75 or I drive around town under 45. I currently don't have any shake.

Update: My truck has to be diagnosed by the regional Toyota rep to clarify it's the tires before they will do anything. The last time I went in they got rid of most of the shake. At this point I would take a credit and go buy the KO2's. Corona has screwed scheduling up so probably going to be a little bit before this is resolved. I love the truck aside from the shake and the occasional radio glitching. I asked about warranties on the radio and was basically told it's only covered if the service tech can replicate it when in for service... what a joke. Owned Toyota's for most of my driving years and I have to say I am extremely disheartened with the level of quality Toyota has stooped too.

Also want to add that it's extremely alarming how many others have this issue. (Yes I know there are some unicorns out there who don't have this issue.) But after doing some research on this forum and others, I found hundreds of people with similar issues. Most cases from what I have seen end up in Toyota doing little to nothing. Those that really pressed the issue seem to have eventually gotten tires replaced. I hate Toyota isn't acknowledging this a serious issue even if it isn't directly causing people harm.

Have you seen these threads?

Do any KDSS (or susp. upgraded) owners have steering wheel vibration? Please Respond!

For pumacat24, it resulted in a complete vehicle replacement because of wobbling at speed.

Toyota is Repurchasing my '18 4Runner TRD ORP...

Good luck with your journey to fix this. Let us know.

Same issue here at 60-65. The dealer was worthless and was made aware of the issue when I bought it. I ended up just buying new tires and for the most part it is ok now. Good luck and document everything / get it in writing!

Dealer called today. Getting approval for a different set of tires. Fingers crossed for KO2’s or Nitto’s!

I wouldn't recommend the Nitto's. I have found them ineffective on wet runs when the temps drop below 50. I've had my ABS kick in on several occasions during mild braking approaching traffic lights. 35mph - 0 in a few hundred feet.

The hard truth is that any non-studded AT or MT tire is going to be average to mediocre in the rain and even worse when it gets cold.

Called me back today and offered to put on Bridgestone Duelers as a replacement. I told them I wanted the KO2's people are suggesting that are fixing the problem. They replied telling me there was a slight difference in price I would have to cover. Ugh so annoying. I ordered TRD wheels to have them mounted on the new tires. Should I be having to pay the difference for the tires? Only like a $180, maybe I am just being difficult.

Yuk. Do not settle for Bridgestone Duelers. They came as OEM tires on my 2018. They are purely street tires and they ran smooth at all speeds for me, up to 90 mph. But I didn’t find them to perform well on wet roads. Read some online tire reviews. They are rated really low. I got rid of mine at 20 K miles and bought Michelin LTX AT/2. Very pleased with them.
The KO2 is an entirely different animal than the Duelers. If that’s what you want, pay the difference.
