Bilstein 6112 RIP?

I was doing my usual walk around and look at stuff routine when I noticed this.

What say you T4R friends? Am I die?

These have been installed for 4.5 years and have seen 39K miles. All on the pavement. That side has been squeaking for years. Never could find the source. Now its quiet.

Well I found another case like mine on the tundra forum. Same exact failure.

Bilstein 6112 Failure! | Toyota Tundra Forum

I guess I'll call Toytec when they open tomorrow and hope they will send a replacement without me sending in the busted shock first.

Kind of lame that highway driving will cause these to fail. I haven't been been paying too much attention to the forums for the last few years. Are there any other "set it and forget it" front suspension options that provide increased handling (top priority), low lift, and are sold as a complete set? I ditched my OEM assemblies when I got the 6112s, which makes the 5100s an expensive downgrade at this point.

the bilsteins are probably the best "set it and forget it" solution. Eibach or OME would probably be similar. Any higher performance adjustable coilover will need regular servicing and maintenance.

That is also my primary reason for sticking with the 5100's.

Save those coils and replace the struts with Eibach adjustable shocks.

They ride fantastic and have a million mile warranty.
