A different kind of armor - Rear Quarter panel

We have lots of options for armor under our trucks and for the rocker panels, but that's it.

What if there was armor for your rear quarter panels potentially all the way up the rear glass? Would anyone be interested in this? How about on the front fenders?

As the 5th gen is nearing it's end and has been around a while, many are wheeling their trucks hard and may want this extra protection.

Since my 4R has been heavily modified with lots of cutting we are now thinking of scanning and building 1/8" or 3/16" armor for the rear quarter panel and maybe even the front fenders. This is very interesting to me as we have cut up to the pinch welds and it's getting thin but what about the rest of you, is there interest?

I wheel quite a bit but my rig is still my daily driver. with a slimline front bumper, winch, center line / gas tank / control arm skids, sliders, roof rack, 33s, recovery gear, and I'm wanting to do a rear bumper I'm pretty concerned about weight. In theory the extra protection sounds good but unless i'm going to do a supercharger and a re-gear I don't think I could justify the additional lbs.

Isn't there some company that already makes protection for the sides of the 4Runner? They're basically giant 'clear bra' pieces, IIRC. The name of it is completely escaping me at the moment.

Ah, found it - Goat Off-Road Magnetic Armor: Review & Install For the 5th Gen 4Runner
