Mine is a 2018. I ordered it from tre performance. I looked at a couple of different websites. All were priced the same. And as far as I could tell, they all ship directly from the manufacturer, so I just picked a site. Im not sure about the tune. They're claiming 2010-2020. I haven't found any information other than the sales brochure. I emailed tech support yesterday to see if they would email me an install manual so I could read while I wait on shipping.

For a 4Runner application where we're trying to maximize long term reliability, staying naturally aspirated is of course the way to go, but if forced induction is on the table, there's a reason no OEMs equip their cars with centrifugal units over roots/TVS style units or turbos whether it's to make power (muscle/sports car scene) or efficiency (Ford Ecoboost line.) Roots/TVS superchargers and turbos are more reliable, make more power, and are overall better than centrifugal units. If it were me, I'd get the URD/Whipple kit. Whipple is top of the line when it comes to superchargers, they actually make a compressor that displaces as much air as the 1GR-FE.

All that being said, the 1GR-FE is an open deck motor, so it's not really the greatest host for boost anyway.
I originally wanted the Whipple. But, out of stock. I had a procharger on my 2015 f150. I had about 70,000 miles on the kit when I traded it in for the 4runner. This is my first Toyota, so I don't have much experience with them. I took a chance. Guess I'll see how it plays out

Any update on status? Have you received/installed the kit?

I saw that the other day...

Very interesting... But ultimately I'll still go with a Magnuson with a 2.85 URD Pulley and maybe some special tuning from Gadget...

Any update @Blasko1022 ? I'm about to pull the trigger on the procharger or the magnuson and would love to hear some real world experience.

I don't have experience with the actual kit but have had boost applications on a few of my vehicles.

Magnuson is great for down low torque and decent power across the power band. Could possibly heat stroke quickly because smaller after cooler.

ProChargers are great up top ... theyre more like turbos that make more power as you whine them up. But they are more efficient and can be boosted more and are more upgradeable in a sense of cooling.

Really depends on what you use your rig for ... and where you need the power

One guy roasted his trans with it. I believe he was abusing it and didn't add an AUX trans cooler.

Bottom line, Magnuson will give you power starting down low and the Procharger is mid to top end power with higher peak numbers.

Mostly street and lots of highway, but trips into the woods on the weekends. I'm not a crawler but did armor up before Covid for a planned rock run that never happened. So mostly getting back power from the extra weight. I don't plan on 4lo grunting my way over boulders which is why I'm eyeing the procharger over the magnuson. My local installer though is giving me the same price after labor for both, so either is still an option.

I’ve had the Magnuson for about 10k miles now. I drive 50/50 city highway. No real change in mpg. Well unless you can’t keep your foot out of it. I don’t notice a huge difference in town but maybe I’m used to it by now. Where is shines is on the highway. The truck never leaves 5th gear, no more gear hunting for grades. Passing power is always right there. It just makes it more enjoyable. If you are expectant a race machine then this isn’t the one you want. It’s still a 5,000 lb brick. If you are going to install it yourself, which I recommend, it’s very easy to do. Just take your time at it. Something else my truck rarely ever sees above 3k rpm anymore, unless I’m having fun with it.

Right on. I've actually looked at regearing too instead of forced induction. Just trying to gain back some oomph.

This is good information. I'm thinking about getting the Magnuson. I assume it comes with a new tune? If so, how long does it take to get the new tune?

I pulled the trigger on the ProCharger. It gets installed April 5th and I'll have updates along the way on this thread Procharger install thread (this will take awhile)

I'm trying to get some before and after dyno time too.

If I remember correctly, once I sent the info to Magnuson, I had their tune in 1-2 days.
