General Grabber AT/X - anyone using them?

My 2020 ORP is scheduled to arrive at the dealership the week of 10/28 with Pro rims. I’m switching out the Bridgestone or Dunlop tires, whatever it arrives with, for either the Nittos or Generals. Can’t seem to find a ton of reviews on the Generals, so asking if anyone here has used them and to what degree of satisfaction? I did a search, but didn't find any thread dedicated to this particular tire...

Keep in mind these will be used year round with minimal off roading, but wanted something with a better tread and look.

Thanks!

I put a set on about 7k miles ago. I like 'em, no complaints, but I've also not really pushed them anywhere very traction limited. Didn't go out in any snow last winter so I"m hoping to see what things are like this time around.

Overall ride quality I can't really compare since I was going from the stock tires and 20" wheels on a limited. Obviously anything will be better with that much extra sidewall.

Road noise isn't bad at all. Well below music volume even listening with volume low. I swear the Grabber's are actually quieter than stock overall. The stock tires made this ridiculous rubber slapping sound when asked to do anything other than smooth pavement which drove me crazy.

The used 2016 Limited I bought had a new set of these on it. I was a bit skeptical, but they have been pretty solid so far- good ride quality and quiet. No issues with wet roads.

I'm running the X3s right now, but we ran A/T X on 3 of our rigs right when they came out and put them through the ringer. Liked them more than the KO2s. If anyones familiar with their legendary AT2, they took that same tech and morphed it into the aggressive AT segment. Did a review a couple years ago if you're interested.

Unfortunately...I can only offer this.

I really...really, really, wanted to love these tires. Great price. Awesome ride at first...then I had the major balancing problems. After repeated attempts at Discount Tire to get them balanced, I ended up taking the tires to another shop and had them inspect the tires carefully. Fully prepared to get them shaved. Turned out - every single tire was out of round by a substantial margin. The vibrations were terrible.

That said - Discount Tire took them back, and replaced them with tires of my choosing. I ended up with BFG AT's.

Same experience for me. I had them for 5K miles, went through two sets but the vibrations could not be fixed. They flat spotted every time I parked for a few hours after driving. Loved the looks but could not live with them. Discount Tire allowed me to exchange them for GY Ultraterrains which is basically a quieter version of GY Duratracs. These are quieter but almost 46lbs per tire based on my rough bathroom scale measurement. With TRD RIMS + Ultraterrains tire total weight is 72.5lbs in P rating. My MPG with the current setup is 19.2 mixed driving but I don't have a lead-foot.

I just went through a pretty exhaustive search and the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 came in as my #2, by only a narrow margin. It's a great tire. Here is more info on several tires that might fall into your search, if you're interested: BFG KO2 vs. Terra Grappler G2 vs. Falken Wildpeak vs. Other P-Rated AT Tires

I have the General Grabbers ATX 35s on my jeep wrangler for over a year. I have had no balancing issues, good on/off road and good rain/winter tires. I was planning on getting a set for my T4RL when it's time to replace.

neighbours have it

Neighbors 4 runner saw 1mpg hit from factory bridgestones, quieter than the K02, on my short list too. No report on this end from winter driving.

I have 4k miles on my tires and I'm a fan. They are quiet on the highway and I've had no balancing issues. They have great traction and are snowflake rated if that matters to anyone.
