At the time I bought mine my first choice, Nautical Blue, was very hard to find. I also really like the 4Runner in MGM and Barcelona Red. My son has a MGM one and I had two red Jeeps back to back so I didn't really want to get either of them. I also liked the Black a lot so I figured if there were no blue ones available, I'd get black. Well I went into one dealer, they had ONE blue one that had just came in with ONE mile on it! I test drove it, put on miles two and three and bought it. Been really happy I lucked into getting exactly what I wanted.

"Color" was the first question the salesperson asked when I told him I was interested in a 4runner.
My reply was "that's the least important thing I care about. But I prefer nothing garish". "Something dirt colored would be practical".
I ended up with black. Not very practical in rural AZ.

Was trying to get an Inferno in mid 2015 but the only ones around had all kinds of dealer options and were marked up way over MSRP. I kept looking then the Quicksand came out. The wife liked it and I loved it so we bought it in October 2015 just below MSRP. So, yeah I got one of my two favorite colors.
Now someone in the neighborhood just got the Army Green and the wife wants that one. No way I’m giving up the Quicksand though. We might be a 2 4Runner household here pretty soon.

I had a silver 1st Gen with the black fiberglass top. It was hotter than hell in the CA sun. Even with AC on. No more dark colors for me. My other two have been light colors. 5th Gen is silver.

I wanted the Barcelona red. I tried using their online system to order one with exactly the color and features I wanted but it kept directing me to go to the dealer. The dealer insisted there were no red Trail 4Runners available, and if I ordered one from the factory it would take months to get it. In the end I settled for the silver. It's not colorful or exciting like red, but it looks pretty good and it doesn't absorb as much heat from the sun, which is nice since I'm a desert guy.

I took my wife to the dealership just to shower her the TEP in Super White. Part of the researching process, as we weren't looking to buy for a few months. She didn't like it because she was expecting Blizzard Pearl. Dealer had an unclaimed Cement on the lot, so we ended up taking it home the next day.

I wanted blue, would not have settled for anything else. Bought it when I was out of town on business, it was not even delivered from the port yet, traded what I was driving in on it.
It was a sweet ride back home!

Even before I thought about getting a 4Runner, if I were to buy a 4Runner, I would buy the Limited model in silver.
Months later, when we went to the dealership to purchase a Limited model, they had several Magnetic Grey’s and a Blizzard White in stock. I told them I wanted a silver Limited and the dealer did a trade with another local dealer about 20 miles away to get me one.
It’s the dealership job to find me the car with the model and color that I want. We usually purchase Toyota’s and Honda’s and these cars are based on the trims levels rather than customizing the individual options.

Just a Reminder, On a Car or Truck, Black is not a Color.
Its a Hobby

I initially wanted white, I was planning on going for the stormtrooper look like I had with my previous car. Found my red Runner, and it grew on me. So I guess I settled, but I think I'm happier with my choice in the end.

I set out for the Cavalry blue very early in the model year, placed an order which was eventually cancelled by the dealer. The next color on my list was blizzard pearl, but I did not want a limited model, so that was out. Luckily, after 6 months a local dealer got the blue Pro and I was able to negotiate a price (not much negotiation, couple hundred off MSRP). So, quite happy with my color, but really also like the blizzard pearl color. Too bad they don't offer that on more models.

Wait. So you guys are telling me you pick out your own vehicles, including color and options? Nobody else walks into the dealership with a bucket of cash, dumps it on the floor, and tells the salesman to bring whatever the money will buy? I've been woefully misguided about how this car buying thing works.
With the 4Runner, I got the exact color I wanted (MGM). I had a little debate with myself on the Tundra because I think the Cavalry Blue looks really good with black rims/badging. MGM was my second choice. The wife convinced me the MGM was a safer choice for the long term, as the Cavalry Blue is a recent "fetish" I developed - I've never shown interest in a color like that before. She opined that I might grow tired of it eventually, but would be less likely to grow tired of MGM. So I bought the MGM Tundra. At least I don't have to buy any extra touch up paint!

Nuts...u guys r nuts...lol
I picked all my colors and pkgs. I dont compromise when I'm dumping a bucket load of cash. I've never been a situation I must get a car or truck right away or else I would die or life would be over.
Just nuts ...
