Holy crap, Dude! This makes me almost glad that I'll most likely be dead before I'd have to replace mine! I read it just because I like to learn mechanical stuff but I'd hate to actually have to do that. Thank you for doing all that work to document this for all the guys here who will have to one day face doing this.

2019 Nautical Blue SR5. Mostly stock but a few mods: Borla muffler, blacked out badges, removed the running boards, painted the silver roof rails with bed liner, painted the wheels gloss black, Weather Tech window deflectors. AFE replacement air filter in stock air box & removed the charcoal after filter, DC Sports exhaust tip. H11 to H9 headlight bulb swap. 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires, Sprint Booster, 1" Cornfed leveling lift.

Awesome. Thank you so much for this write up. I'm doing a steering rack replacement for my girlfriends 2nd gen Tacoma soon. While not 1:1 this will surely help and if anything the Tacoma looks to be a bit easier. Did you end up getting new outer tie rods while you were at it?

Good luck my friend! Yes, the steering rack assembly came with new inner and outer tie rods. So the steering feels as if the truck was brand new which I'm trying to get used to.
Agreed, on your second gen Taco probably being easier. Older gens have much more room to work with. I know the 4th gen 4runner from the same era was easier.
