Tints?

So had our 2020 TRD Pro front windows tinted and asked the fronts be as close to the rears as possible. We metered the rears, which showed 30%, which I thought was about right since the Toyotas seem to run lighter than some competitors. He suggested we go 35% up front since there the front windows are not entirely untinted. We did so. It looks great in the garage and super close, but outside it looks a bit light probably because of light coming in from windshield. What I do notice is that the fronts have a noticeable greenish tinge to them when looking out vs. the rears. Is the solutions to basically tint the entire vehicle at once and if so, with what percentage? Is the rear glass tinted with a film, or is it actual tinted glass? Sorry, I am new to Toyota and the 4Runner, so please forgive my ignorance.

The rear windows come with a factory tint. It's not a film but a part of the glass making process. You can as I did it on mine.

The window tint percentage is all up to you. Just remember your state may have limits on what is legally allowed. Texas, where I am at, has to have 25% light transmission in the front windows and the rear can be as dark as you want. I will look at my percentages to let you know what I got on mine.

Just a heads up though, 5% tint on the rear windows will make it super hard to see out back at night but it does look good in the sun.

The green tint is the natural raw glass color due to Iron and also color additives to reduce UV transmission - these will vary by glass company. Our rear glass actually has a slight bronze hue, which is why matching the fronts to the rear is more challenging, you are using a grey film to tint a green substrate to match a bronze/grey substrate.

I did 10% in the front and went over factory tint in the back with I think 15%, which made it measure to about 5%. There are tint calculators on Google.

Looks super super dark, but here is a pic with it very bright outside. This is the most you can ever see through. Usually you can't even see anyone inside the vehicle.

10% looks great. Wish it was legal in my state (MA). Can only do up to 35%.

I did 20% all around and think it looks good.

Thanks for insight. State of Illinois is 35% all around with 5% variance. Technically, if you have 20% in rear you can only do 50% tint up front. Mine are probably just barely legal, not that I care anyway.
