Im installing my eibach lift and have a question. The new shock up front has 2 new bushings. Should i pry out the old bushing thats in the top hat? Im reusing the oem top hats and doing the no spring compressor method. I tried looking but couldnt find out if theyre glued in or not.

Im assuiming yes take them out but dont want to ruin it if i need to reuse it.

I recently replaced my top hats and new ones had the bushing in them as you have, I left them in. I assume KYB supplies an adequate pre-installed bushing.

I used the new ones, old ones were not difficult to remove at all.

Yea once i realized they were glued i just got a screw driver and ripped them out. Fronts are done. Rear once my daughter wakes up. Honestly kdss intimidated me but i took it off at the LCA and just used a wood pump clamp to get it back on. Took 5 min. Had the piston supported with a jack stand during install then used the oem jack to manipulate the piston during reinstall.

The... no spring compressor method?

Yup. Jack under lca. Take off shock top nut, take off 2 bolts that connect knuckle to lca, support the rotor, support kdss piston, remove kdss bolts that connect to lca, very slowly lower jack, loosen cam bolt, remove shock lower bolt (at this point the lca can flop all the way down) and then remove shock and spring assembly (minus top hat which is still attached)

When you out it back in you jack up the lca to compress the spring.

Your using the jack to hold the lca and spring vs taking out the shock with top (as a coiover unit) then using a spring compressor to make a new coil over.

If you get a preassembled coilover this method can still be used to make install easier but not necessary.

I had to compile a few instructions (solo, no spring compressor, kdss) and typed it up. Ill post in once im done and confirm everything

How was the install overall, pretty simple?

Ive never installed a lift before. This wasnt bad at all. Ill have a write up soon (i just compiled (stole?) a bunch of stuff fromnother posts). It gets more a little more complicated if youre doing a uca. But the eibach kit doesnt need one.

Its 6 bolts on the front per side plus loosen 2 more.

Rear theres a few extra wires and lines to be aware of but not bad.

I felt before lile kdss was going to be a problem. I didnt have any issues. 5 min up front. Maybe 10 in the back. The wood clamps made life so easy.

The most dangerous part is when the lca and upper shock nut are off and youre lowering the jack, if you go fast it could be a bad time. I hadnt used my floor jack in a while so i practiced a little before i started the whole project. Also purged the air in it to make it run a little better.

i just installed my eibach kit today too!

i made the mistake of adding the new bushing to the KYB mount not knowing there was a bushing inside already.. easy fix.

I also did the no compression method.

For the rear the only thing that needs removed is the sway link, this gives enough room to either place a jack between the axle and bump stop or use a reverse clamp to clearance the springs (could also be done by hand or with help from another set of hands).

Completely disagree that an UCA isn't needed.
in order to get proper caster and camber angles more than 3 degrees is needed, and cannot be accomplished with the stock UCA.

That's not to say you can't drive that way and have no issues, but it will wander more, track poorly, and want to deflect under hard braking.

Asked if i could get 4 caster if they could but said they cant do "custom alignments" with the lifetime alignment. Doubt it but whatever i dont have 285s so not that big of a deal. Caster stayed at 3ish which is fine. Drove perfect on the way home. No wobble or vibration.
