285/70r/17 + Eibach Pro truck @ 1.6 + Tire size info

First off, many, many thanks to @nimby for the time he took to write the review on the Firestone A/T on the other 4Runner forum. The tire and lift combo was exactly what I was looking for so I followed his advice. I am very pleased with the outcome. After a little road time I have found a little rubbing on the fender liner when in reverse at full turn so I'll be doing the fender liner mod in due time. Not even close to a BMC

I have also attached a document I created when researching tires that I was interested in. No heavy mudders will be found here. I was looking for a more conservative tread with good road manners. My heavy off roading days are over.

Hope this helps some of you on the fence. Cheers!

Glad to hear it worked out for you Keith and that you're happy with the set-up!

Do the fender liner mod and get your alignment shop to get the caster as close to 4 degrees as they can get it.

It'll ride even better!

Your truck looks awesome!

Looks great! Destination AT2 do run a tad taller than most 285 I've had, they are wonderful tires on road and light off road. When things settle you might have some more rubbing.

That will rub at full turn if you stuff that tire. Guaranteed.

Looks good.

I like your spreadsheet. I'm going to have to put something similar together.

My next tire change, 30k to 40k from now, I plan go to 255/80R17 which is a 33.1 inch tire for Falken weighing in at 52lbs.

What off-roading I do anymore is in the low country of Florida and Georgia. My 1st gen and 3rd gen saw time in the mountains.

I'm older now. After 30+ years of owning 4runners they have changed along with me so this vehicle works with my lifestyle today. So for now, I'm okay with not having the capabilities that another 1" of lift and aftermarket UCA's would get me.

Thank you sir. It helped sway my decision. My short list was the General APT, Yoko Geo G015 and the Firestone. All within the same weight range.

Thanks for the spreadsheet Keith. Wish I had it when researching tires because I probably would have gone with firestone at2 as well. They look to be the lightest 285? Please keep us posted on how they work out for you.

T4R looks awesome! Which of the Eibach kits did you order? Is it the new adjustable coilovers?

Man, that looks close. Starting to rethink going 285s and instead do 275s.

That's where I was too which is why I made the spreadsheet so I could compare sizes. I really didn't want to go with an E rated tire. The only one that was close to Std load was the Kuhmo (6 ply C rated) which was also 12lbs/tire heavier and offered no mileage warranty. I kept coming back to the Firestones.

Liner is pushed forward and did a little more trimming today with a rasp and some 320 sandpaper to smooth it out.
