Tire ‘bump’

Hey T4R!

Yesterday I noticed while pulling out of my driveway that I feel a bump every tire rotation. This is going slow - 5-10 mph and gets harder to feel as the MPH increase. I’m not sure how to explain it other than as a kid if you didn’t even space out the new tube in your bike and when you pump it up you feel that bump every time your bike tire gets to that bulge or spot in the tire.
Tires: 275/70/17 K02’s at 35 psi. Tires are new - they don’t even have 500 miles on them.
I can’t see any visible bulges anywhere and the lugs are tight

Thanks!

that sounds like a separated tire. you feel the bump, but does the steering wheel rock side to side also? if not, that would tell us its a rear tire.

run your hands across the tread. like petting a dog. flat hand. you will probably be able to feel it. after checking all the tread you can reach, roll the rig forward a few feet, so you can get to the section that was on the ground.

I do not feel it in the steering wheel. I will try that and let you know!

Years ago I had a similar issue, it turned out to be a wheel weight inside the tire.
I had just had a tire repair by the" Tire Guy at Sears". At low speed it flops around but at higher speed the centrifugal force held it to the wall of the tire.
You should feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel if its a front tire . not so much if its a rear.
Take it to the tire shop and have them put the truck on a rack and spin each tire slowly to listen for a thump.

Separated tire when brand new would be a very weird and rare issue unless he did something Dukes of Hazzard with it?

I agree. especially with BFG's. but, when I worked tires, I saw brand new tires separated after the first mounting. in fact we would spot them on the balancer.
