Equivalent Wheel Offset and Spacers

Hi All -

I currently have wheel spacers, but want to eventually get the appropriate wheel setup that provides the same or similar stance without needing wheel spacers. I've listed my current setup below and also the specifications of the wheels I want to purchase. Can somebody tell me if it will sit the same, less poke or more poke?

Current Wheel Setup:
  • 17x8
  • Backspacing: 4.5"
  • Offset: 0
  • 1.25" wheel spacers

Wheels I want:
  • 17x9
  • Backspacing: 3.5"
  • Offset: -35 (negative)

Well, 1.25" spacers is ~equivalent to running -32 offset, so the -35 is pretty much perfect.

You can ignore the backspacing to make it easier and just look at it as "if the wheels were the same width, the new -35 offset would sit almost exactly the same. And since the new wheels are an inch wider, half of that will be on the inside and half of that will be on the outside of the wheel.

So all told, the amount they stick out would be like you had a ~1.9" (48mm) spacer on your original wheels.

Equivalent Wheel Offset and Spacers

Try out this link. It will calculate offset, backspacing and also give hours a graphical view.

Wheel Offset Calculator

When I input your offsets, it comes out very close. -32mm (Same as 1.25”) vs -35mm is very close .

Not sure if you seen SCS wheels but I have a feeling you have. Anyways they have 17x9 -38. Here’s mine with them.

This is all I have but not sure it’ll help but I’ll take more from behind. It’s not like me, the behind is usually the first place I’ll look Equivalent Wheel Offset and Spacers. It’s BFG KM3 295x70x17.

Can you show a pic directly from behind. We have 17x9 -12 offset and they are too far inside the fender for her likings. Trying to decide on 1/2” spacer or 1” spacer to get it right around -32 offset for a nice tire poke look. Thank you
