I just ordered a set of Nova's and will be installing my SP-9100 next week. I plan to put my DRL lead on one of my switches so I can strobe them. Has anyone else done this? I'm not even sure it's possible but hope it is.

One option was to use the EFI fuse, suggest by my mechanics, but interestingly that fuse is apparently powered, occasionally, when the truck is off. I know this because I will walk out to the garage and see the drls on a minute and then switch back off.

So, I am wondering what options I have, if any, aside from jamming the signal wire into the INJ fuse (i.e. not using a tap), or breaking the fuse box lid. What have other 2020 owners done?
This you get the fuse cover figured out? Also, a question about the wiring. How are you wiring? Are you plugging the tap to the blank space just above the INJ fuse location. Or are you replacing the INJ fuse there with the tap?

Same here. In the day time with the lights on auto I get no DRLs. And when I plug the tap into the blank fuse spot just above the INJ fuse, I get the light dancing features but no day time DRLs. Have you figured something out?

i dont think it'll work

i have my drls wired to a dedicated switch. when you turn it on, it comes on immediately, but when you turn it off, there is a delay to them turning off.

That makes sense. Can't wait to get them in and on either way.

Hi everyone, new to the forum.
First mod on my 2020 4R TRD Pro (army green) over the weekend was a Switch-Pro 9100, with AlphaRex Nova series headlights. Install went smooth just wanted to shed some light on some info already mentioned in this thread:
1. INJ fuse tap (provided and included by AlphaRex) from headlights DRL harness -- still able to close 2 of the 3 tabs of the fuse box cover. Looks secure enough to me. I didn't modify the cover at all.
2. No lights at all from headlights are on when lights are on 'AUTO' mode and its daytime. The DRL bezel does come on (with side amber) when I set to "PARKING" mode. I did not attempt connecting my DRL harness positive and negative leads to the Switch-Pro 9100

DRL indicates you need to be in DRIVE and not park for the DRL to light up.
Are you looking at it when you are in park?

There has to be a way to tap into the line going from the ECU and into the DLR relay. This would probably have to be done under the dash. It would make the installation much more complicated than many people would stomach, so the 3rd party mfgs are taking an easy way out.

That being said, I sure hope that someone braver and more skilled than me can figure it out . I'd love to put the Novas in my truck, as the OEM lights are horrible. But I don't want "always on" DLR, which is what tapping into the INJ fuse would do. It's silly sitting somewhere in PARK and have the white LEDs blasting.

When vehicle is in drive, no lights are coming from the Nova headlights. The bezel LED will only illuminate when low beams or high beams are on or “parking” lights are switched on.

Update:
Ensure you add an extra 5amp or 10amp fuse into the fuse-tap when tapping into the INJ fuse slot in the fuse box (ie. place existing 10amp fuse from the INJ slot into the fuse-tap and add another 5/10 amp into the second slot of the fuse-tap). My positive and negative wires from the Nova headlight DRL harness is connected directly to the battery. Now the DRL bezel led works and is on when the headlights are in the "off" position or in the "AUTO" position (during daylight)

I also experimented on connecting the DRL harness to a SwitchPro 9100. Sectioned off the fuse-tap from the grey wire of the DRL harness, crimped and heatshrunk the end of the grey wire and connected it to the SwitchPro (I left positive and negative wire connected to the battery). This does allow you to turn on and off the LED bezel light when the headlights are in the "off" or "AUTO position", it will still function however when the low beams are on. I have a 2020 4R and due to the some minor changes in the electrical system, I experienced some hyper-blinking of my turn signals with the DRL harness powered on, only when the low/high beams are on. The hyper-blinking seems to self-correct once I power off the DRL harness with the SwitchPro. AlphaRex is sending me a resistor to add to the turn signals.

What if you don't care about the DRL feature?? Can these be installed without the DRL wiring?? Does the strip still work other than the DRL?

So according to Alpharex you can combine the Raptor style lights with the red DRL wire and then plug them back in to the 10 amp INJ.

"NELSON MANFebruary 20, 2020
you can tap in together with your LED lights as these are not using a lot of power , most likely around 1-2 amp only."

I'm getting the Magnuson Super charger installed very soon and according to the instructions page the intercooler relay taps into the 10A INJ fuse.
not exactly sure how much the intercooler is going to draw, but I'm also installing the Alpharex Novas. so both are wanting to tap in the same location. Or should I run the raptor and the Nova DRLs inside the cab together?

Still waiting for this answer. I can’t find it addressed anywhere.
