Help Wiring the DRL on Alpharex Nova on a 2020

The Novas are installed and are working really well, but I need help with the DRL. The 2020 has a different fuse box than previous years, and the fuse tap provided will not fit into the INJ fuse without distorting/cracking the lid on the fuse box.

One option was to use the EFI fuse, suggest by my mechanics, but interestingly that fuse is apparently powered, occasionally, when the truck is off. I know this because I will walk out to the garage and see the drls on a minute and then switch back off.

So, I am wondering what options I have, if any, aside from jamming the signal wire into the INJ fuse (i.e. not using a tap), or breaking the fuse box lid. What have other 2020 owners done?

I just installed mine and I’m having the same issue. The LED DRL’s only come on with the parking lights for me.. setting my headlights to DRL only turns on the regular DRLs.

Comments on TRD Jon's Youtube, someone commented they used these for the DRL on their 2020.

Did you use the fuse tap or send any power from anywhere to the single wire on the bottom of the headlight assembly? You can't just plug all the headlight harnesses in and call it a day. These are not truly plug and play which kinda sucks.

I used the inj fuse and warped the fuse box cover slightly to get it to fit on my 20 pro. A new cover is around 50 bucks so I was okay with this decision knowing I could replace it easily. The only other fuse I can think of is the one in the cabin for kdss (if you don’t have it) that would turn on with the ignition but you would have to go through the firewall. It’s worth it IMO for the DRLs and the tap. Hope that helps

Yeah I used the fuse tap and did connect the bottom wires.

Your post history suggests you have a 2019. I have the Luxx on our 2017 and do not have the issue that OP or the other guy have. Don't fret yet!

Is it a 2020? If not, can you post a pic or your fuse box with the tap?

I used a tap on the INJ fuse on my 2020 for my raptor lights. It doesn't allow the fuse box to completely seal, but if you can't live with it that way, just add some tape or something. It'll be fine.

The problem is really crying out for someone to come up with a new lid for that fuse box and put it on sale. If I knew anyone locally with the capability of getting that done, I'd be putting that together right now and getting ready to market them.

I am running into a similar issue... it seems that all of the wiring accessories really like to tap in to the INJ ignition fuse which creates some issues when running multiple accessories...

Has anyone tried to splice into the DRL power cable harness running to one of the headlights?

I will be attempting to splice into the existing wiring that is running to the stock DRL on the drivers side. I believe there are two sets of colored wires (once for the turn signal and another from the DRL relay) - and if you can find the power wire I think you should be able to T splice in and have it working... but I have not confirmed.

Any circuit that goes hot when the ignition is switched on would work the same way.

Advantages to using the factory DRL circuit would be that they'd behave the same way as factory DRLs in any condition that cause the factory DRL to turn off.

I believe you will get flickering DRLs on the Alpharex. I have the wiring diagram printed out and in my stack of to dos but haven't gotten around to it yet. Our other car needed a transmission rebuild and has been taking my free time. Anyway, I think you'll need a capacitor to keep them from flickering.

Not sure why the aftermarket manufacturers haven't figured this out. This is much preferable than the DRLs just being on all the time.
