Ah, OK that makes sense. I was thinking about incorporating one of those sets of lights (tail or turn) as chase lights. Easiest to just use the turns since they're already wired out separately on the tail as turn module. The reverse lights should be more focused to the rear than scattered about like the turns are, hence my question

Rear fog light should always come on with front fog lights. Why would there be a need to control them independently?

Amber/Yellow are indicator lights, not fog lights, and should be used as such. People are just going to assume one blinker is broken and stuck on.
ABSOLUTELY NOT! The rear fog light SHOULD NOT come on with the front fog lights. There is nothing more infuriating than following behind someone with their rear fog light on for NO reason.

Rear fogs are meant to be just on the drivers side, and should be red, to help create viability. An amber rear fog, such as the OP's, could create confusion about turning / merging, and would not provide the same amount of safety.

My 2001 Volvo XC70 has the rear fog option - it's great! It's not quite as bright as the brake light, and is only on the drivers side. It brings plenty of attention to the vehicle and is noticed when the brakes are applied, but does not cause any sort of confusion.

Is it the worst thing to have a brighter brake light all the time? Worst case is people will slow down sooner as they come up on you (intent) and not have any hesitations about you attempting to merge/or thinking you might want to merge.

Your choice- just heads up

Lets see a photo at night with your running lights on. I think you might be surprised/impressed by the red fog - and it is likely the safer route too

My Macan has one of these things, I was puzzled as to what the actual **** it was. I thought I had an electrical problem the first time I saw it.

I lived in the UK in mid ‘90s. Had my left hand drives from US with me, 1991 Accord, 1985 Jimmy. Both had to have a rear fog light installed. It was red, about intensity of brake lights, and located driver side on bottom of rear bumper. It was wired to a separate switch on the dash but switch only worked if low beam headlights were on. Low beams and rear fog were required to be on in fog. Neither vehicle had front fog lights.

I kinda torn. Red seems more of a factory look which I like but I like how amber stands out more. It is more intense than the red in person. Both shots with tail lights on.

My OCD would never allow asymmetrical lighting.
